Boys don't worry I have my mind set on a GTR but also spotted this if anyone else is interested. Its practically brand new.

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...ind=CSL|CarAll

The GTR is faster but you'll learn so much more about driving with one of these..... also seems reasonably priced and future classic for sure.

Thats not to bad actually. Considering a brand new M3 is towards $180ish in Australia.

Oh its terrible
The government taxes, but also the retail here doesnt acknowledge our strong economy so everything is pretty expensive. The government also gives our 2 local car manufacturers money to stay in business cause its hard for them to compete with Japanese brands.
BMW also does not give us full stripper models for brand image protection.

Whats it like in Germany? Is Audi just an entry level car there and VW is like the "HELP ME" car?
What are the prices like compared to Japanese brands??

In Australia it hurts to buy a new car, some people will have a cheap run around car so they can save KMs and keep a more expensive car for longer, we also share cars like 1 or 2 cars between a family of 4 who all drive, dunno if thats done a lot in Germany?

Especially in Sydney, but cars are just everywhere full stop.Saw 3 cars in a row parked on a nature strip here the other day LOL.

Cars in Australia are expensive, but not enough for us to chuck a sad about. Yes, its ridiculous compared to the states..... but then i'll still prefer to live in Australia.

Most of us certainly have a daily car and a special weekend car.... sometimes the daily car can also be referred as a bus. MOST I say have a daily but then again my neighbour uses his DBS everyday

Some people just have to much money.... back to the CSL

Yeh I know they all are. AND we only got the grey cars too, the UK have both grey and the black version. It is way cheaper to bring one in from the UK, this guy is dreaming, sorry. I have been watch carsales on this one and the other one that's there for quite a while, the CSL search is in my favourites on Carsales, one day.

IIRC £30-40,000. There is a M3CSL forum over there that is good.

A CSL is just an E46 M3 with SMG from my point of view.

Plenty beemer (well a few), buy the rare and limited run cars, think GT3 RS 4.0/ GT2 RS/ 911 Sports Classic / C63 Coupe Black (any black for that matter)/ M5 Matt Black (1 in Aus) and they stick them in a shed somewhere.

Porsche Aus, BMW Aus call these guys first, before us mere mortals even know they are in existence. The CSL was a limited, 20 I think, delivery to Aus, all SMGs and all in grey so they are pretty rare too.

It would be nice to have a big shed full of these limited cars, selfish I appreciate, but imagine having a bar and a pool table in there (some music as well) and playing a game with you're mates whilst perving at car porn. GOLD

They were available in Black and Grey, there was a Black one delivered to QLD when they were released so there was or is at least one Aust delivered car. There was 23 delivered by BMW Aust.

Yeah... Screw the Bar and pool table! You'll probably fit another car with that space

So realistically what is the procedure like to bring a car from the UK? I've seen loads of imported gallardo and 360s around perth all brought from the UK.

Either own it for a year or pay all the tax associated with importing a car I suppose.

You can get normal M3's with SMG... IIRC they have the exact same gear box with a different tune.
