Air Scoops

I was thinking of getting either the Macht Schnell Scoops or Cyba Scoops. The Macht Schnell have more of an OEM appearance.

Has anyone has any experience with these scoops? Do they work? Which ones do you recommend?

Not sure. In theory they should as they would direct more cool air into the air box

Not unless you're blowing air directly into the scoops while on the dyno.

The MS ones look nice but then again if you're going to buy a set don't expect much in terms of performance gain, just treat it as some bling for under the hood.

Any ducting that diverts more air towards a cooling unit / intake will work... whether or not you get a positive outcome out of it is another story and is really up to the answers to the following questions:

1) are you ducting fresh, cold air or are you ducting heat-soaked air?
2) is the duct properly sealed to whatever you're ducting to so you are getting maximum efficiency?
3) does the design of the duct allow for easy routing of air (i.e. minimum turbulence) or has it got large and sharp kinks throughout the path?

I've seen ducting work very well on past projects in the area of oil coolers, intercoolers, intakes, and even engine components.

It's definitely not just another piece of 'bling' on the car.

Word of warning, some air ducting can actually be counter-productive in certain situations. An example of this would be ducting for oil coolers where it is possible to over-cool the system making warm-up times excessively long.

I would honestly save your money and put it towards something else that has proven results. Scoops aren't cheap at $100-$120.

I've got the cyba one. Paying $50 for a scoop is stupid enough let alone > $100

It doesn't block that much of the radiator. I didn't expect too much a difference because the factory ducting is already sitting in a high pressure area so any ram effect is minimal. 6th gear pull on highway speed seems more effortless and I am hoping the scoop is acting more like a heat shield at lower speed rather than a ram device.

I have scoops, and wouldn't say they made any difference. I originally had them as my intake has a plenum which pushed air directly onto the filter but don't use the plenum as it was tapping on the bonnet.

If you have a stock intake they would be pointless...

You can't over-cool if the oil thermostat (if present) shuts off the oil cooler flow until the preset thermostat temp is reached.

Keywords: (if present)

But you are right, products do exist where this is taken care of by the use of a thermo.
