wish there was a cheap front lip
yeah carbon fiber is sweet but when your a decent amount lower you don't want to scrape a lip that cost 1k ... just wish there was a company out there that made like a $100-200 lip that was plastic

The problem is there not enough 135i cars out there. When you do ABS or polyurethane, the mold alone will cost you 5k. Each lip after that is very cheap but to recover 5k is very hard and not worth it for many companies.

The cheapest is Kesher at about $350 if I remember right.

wish a company out there will realize there is a pretty good market for these maybe not as big as the CF market since people are obsessed w/ CF these days. Which i too love, just not for a front lip |

I'm just sick of all these CF lips which we get told they are super high quality, then 6 months later everyone talks shit about it saying its crap cause a new company is out promising the same thing. And for what, so you can destroy it on the highway day by day? no thanks |

lol yea i did, I just stayed out of it cause it made no sense to post since you are not going to convince the peanut gallery that they are insane for doing so. Unless they have other cars to drive during the week and its mostly their show car, then i get it

I am telling you if I had the contacts or connections to get a mold made for around $5000....I would bank-roll it...not expecting to make my money back in the short term...but it would be a bit of a longer short-term investment...shit if I sold 12 lips @$400 I would break even immediately....any more than that is profit. So I don't know why it hasn't been done yet by those that DO have those connections. |

I'm sure I'm going to be in the minority here, but I really like the subtle E36 M3 front lip. Plain black plastic. Factory BMW part (51 11 2 251 767) for $75 from the dealer.
It fit any of the E36 models that had the M3 front bumper (sport package E36s, etc), added a little additional protection and gave the front end more finished look. I actually got mine for free because a buddy scrapped theirs on a curb and bought a new one and gave me his old one. |

+1 for a lip that helps performance on track, isn't a huge pain in the ass for daily driving and isn't expensive just for the sake of being expensive.

I know it sounds funny, but I'm actually thinking of the Home Depot Front Lip.
Laugh if you want, but it's under $20! And, who says I won't supply you with choices? You can use Garden Edging, or Garage Door Bottom Rubber! You can be as extreme as you want to be: 3M Tape (holds really well), so you can remove it when you want. You could go all the way and drill with some screws!

i tried a DIY lip and was unsuccessful. the 128 or performance bumpers look like they'd be easier. the 135 bumper just made it a huge pain in the ass. unfortunately i don't have any pictures, since the result was never good.
i don't think it's worth abandoning the project entirely... but my first try looked like crap. to get it to work on the 135 you really need three separate pieces, or to somehow join 3 pieces into one. one continuous piece works, but looks a little ghetto. |

Look at the 2nd and 3rd picture I posted. The chin looks similar to the 135i's, in terms of jutting down. I think it's do-able.
