Larger wheels at the back?
Hi Guys,
I currently have 17' wheels with 225-45 tires. I had a talk with my mechanic yesterday as I'm thinking about refinishing the wheels and changing the tires (the Potenza will not have lasted 2 years) and he suggested to change the back wheels to 18' with 255-35 to improve handling. What do you think? Did anyone did that? Also, what about The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP. Any experience with thoses? Thanks, Philippe |

You need to change all wheels when upgrading. I would recommend an oem set of BMW wheels that fit non-M fitment paired with 225/40/18 front and 245/35/18 or 245/40/18 in the back

its been done before...i remember some cars in the past have come that way. just gotta make sure you get the right tire size to maintain overall diameter.
here are some examples. you get quite a few hits if you search google

OP - Keep in mind 18s will most likely be heavier than the 17’s you have now so the car my feel like it’s bogging off the line. For improved handling, I would say stick to your 17’s but get grippier tires. 17’s will also be cheaper than 18’s. PS2’s are great but expensive, I like the Direzza Star Specs. |

No they're not. The M has thicker sidewalls.
