Lighting Questions

Hey Guys,

First off, I HAVE DONE SO MUCH RESEARCHING, so please don't tell me to .

I'm in the market to upgrade my my angel eyes from stock to LED. I was set on Weisslicht for a while, but it seems like you can't even see them in the daylight. So I did more searching and this is what I've seem to come to...

AIB-best 50/50 light distribution between inner and outer ring, very bright, but I haven't seen any pictures of what they look like in the daylight.

LUX-brighest of the Plug in play it seemss, but sucky in daytime lighting, also lots of problems with 2010+ models. I don't if there has been a solution yet?

DTECS-can't see in the daytime (so i've read)

City View H8-seem fine, but don't know for sure.

I'm awaiting reply from Tom @ eas, but I wanted to get you guys' opinion since you guys are the customers. Please, any input will be greatly appreciated. I don't care about cost, but I don't want to get the kind where you order new headlights just for LED's.

Also, just curious if anyone installed the LUX LED backup lights?

Thanks guys.

I have Lux on my 2011.75 E90 and it looks + works great. Would definitely recommend them, gotten alot of compliments on them so far as well.

Just replied to your PM.

No problem on MY11, I'm running them on my 2011 M3 at the moment.

What problems are you speaking of with the 2010's and up? I have them in my 2011 and so far haven't had any problems what-so-ever. Granted, I've only had the car a couple of weeks, but I would have thought I'd see a problem by now if there were any.

Have the LUX's white LEDs for my Halos, WeissLicht's white LEDs for my turn indicators, and white 24smd LED replacement strips for my sidemarkers. Love each of them! No problems night or day [period].

Oh, and you can see the LUXs during the day as well. These are pretty much the same as the AiB halos. The only one's you will definitely see more of during the day will be the OSSs, Alpines, etc. But didn't want to send my entire housing unit.

If brightness is what you are looking for, go with Alpine's

Plus the fact that you have to send in your headlights or order new ones right? And that's just too much when there is a simpler option.

I don't necesarily want brightness, I just want them to be visible during the day.

Please don't tell me I didn't research. Those are some of the many things I've read.

And I've settled on AIB V4.

Those threads are really old. A lot of things have changed since then... Like the LUX problem with the 2010+ cars was fixed, the AiB v3's went through an iteration or two to fix some issues, and the AiB v4s just came out not too long ago. Personally, I'm waiting for more info on the v4s before deciding on that or LUX.

And that is why I posted this tread today before making a decision off of that, so I could see what people thought about the ones they had purchased recently.

I think the biggest comparo would be between the v4s and the Lux. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much side-by-side action to help settle that one.

got a set of LUX on my 11.75 and they are working spectacularly so far. As a matter of fact I havnt heard of any of the MY 10+ having any issues. At night the look gorgeous and they are visible during the day. Albiet not super bright, but they are definately noticeable during sunlight. At night they are also just right, no blinding to cars in front.
LUX FTW!!

1 for LUX. On my 2011.5. No issues. Money well spent.

Thanks guys for all the input. It's making the decision a little harder lol. I know it's between LUX and AIB. Just can't decide between those two even though I'm leaning more towards AIB. I like the fact that they have a 3 yr. warranty.

You do not send in your lights for HID angels, its plug and play like the others (except OSS- which you do send your lights in or have installed at a shop that knows what they're doing).
