Anyone Dye Trunk Interior Pieces?

Has anyone on here dyed their trunk interior pieces? One of my few complaints of my M3 is the finish of the trunk. My 2001 VW jetta GLX had a much nicer finished trunk and I kind of miss that. I would think a $75K car, should have a nicer looking trunk than a $15K Honda Civic. Since I have a Mineral White car with Black interior, I would like the trunk to be black as well. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Can always try or have it re done....

Doesn't really bother me I rarely put anything back there other than the Manuel, some towels and qd.... No one really sees it anyhow, I don't usually show people my cars and include the trunk, just saying

I have an extra piece of trim you can test with
It's the small trim cover for where you can access the rear light bulbs from
It's about 8"x4"

Good thread. I've always wanted my trunk to be black also...I'd love a simple dye solution...

I've always heard that SEM fabric paint was excellent. Google it and see what you come up with. One of the biggest compliments about it is that the cloth still feels like cloth when finished.

Fabric paint is OK but it will wear over time. Dye would be better.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on that one when it comes to SEM *lol*. I've read across a lot of forums, and talked to many people that actually used the product. As long as it is prepped correctly, it will last. I've personally tried to RIT-dye carpet before using a kiddie pool for a previous project car, whereas my neighbor at the time used SEM. We both prepped and cleaned according to what was recommended. After 2 months, I could rub my hand through any part of my carpet, and I would get dye particulate on my hands. His still looked brand new, no particulate.

My bad... I have it backwards. It's been awhile since my car audio days. Yes, the SEM paint works pretty good.

The RIT dye is for small projects. There is better dye but doing the molded liners will be a PIA.
