Winter Rim size clarification

Confirmation question.

Has anyone successfully fitted a set of 18" rims to the 1m wheel hubs? Is there enough clearance for rim to fit over the front callipers?

Are there any special rims or rim styles that fit over the brakes?

Will any 18" rim do?

Is there anything, other than width/ offset that we need to know about?

I'm going with a 18 x 10 square setup for winter. The 1M has the same offsets as the
M3 I believe so you shouldn't have any problems.

Tire rack lists 18" winter wheel packages for the 1M (listed under 2012 model year), so you should be okay with clearing the calipers.

Pay attention to the offset. I have ordered 19 x 8.5 wheels for the front with 40 mm offset. As such, I plan on using either a 12 or 15 mm spacer for the front. I think tire rack suggests using an 18 mm spacer with some of their winter packages.

I started this, clarification thread for people who have successfully fitted 18"'rims to the car; not theoretically.
