Tire/wheel problems?
So I'm ordering my 2012 135i (woo hoo), and the dealer is asking about a "tire/wheel warranty package" that will cover any damage to the runflats or wheels on my car (also has M sport package) for three years.
Have you experienced significant problems with 135i tire/wheel damage that would make this a good deal at $1149? I would assume not, but thought I'd check in. Thanks. |

Save ur money this is not needed at all its a money grab by the dealer. They tried to sell me on this. The stock tires dont last that long anyway. The car will handel and ride alot better with a good set of non run flats. Thats what i did when stock ones wore out.
Bridgestone re11s 255/35/18 rear and 225/40/18 front on stock rims works.Nice and sticky. |

Some folks (especially around NYC) have reported frequent wheel and tire damage, so for them it might be useful. While the roads in the greater DC area aren't much better, I've had no wheel or tire damage since I learned how to steer around the potholes or slow down for those that were unavoidable.
If you haven't damaged the wheels on your Miata, why pay the money? Tom |

Replacing a RFT is betweek 200-300 and you can find replacement wheels on this forum. Unless you plan on massively damaging 2 wheels and have no inclination to ever buy new wheels, then go for it, but it's a waste of money if you plan on being rational.

Second setvwheels/tires
I purchased a 2nd set of used stock wheels and Continental DWS instead of insurance
Now I have a set up for all seasons and an extra wheel for each end if one gets bent |

Ive had my 135i since Sept 08. since then I've had 3-4 rims and like 7-9 tires replaced since then so my insurance has more then paid for itself. i live in new York and i drive around mostly in Brooklyn and queens.
