Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date (updated 8-30-11)
The phone system says that my vehicle is scheduled for production with no confirmed production date.
Ordered about 3 weeks ago and have been hearing this for almost a week. *sigh* Does this mean that I won't be getting an early production slot? No idea if it even has a production week assigned. Update 08-30-11: Just finished talking to my CA and it appears that I now have a new production number. Is this something that happens often? Perhaps they skipped me to a new allocation? Old number: 365XXXX New number: 363XXXX Is smaller better in this case? Checked with the phone system, and this number is also scheduled, but with no production date. You CA should be able to get you more information. Keep in mind that the factory shuts down for an extended period in August so that pushes everyone's order back to late Aug/early Sept.
Timing will also depend on your dealer. Each dealer gets allocated production slots based on their sales history. Your actual production slot will depend on how many production slots your dealer is allocated and how orders they have. It is possible that the slots for one month are taken so your order gets bumped back to the next month. Again, talk to your CA but I suspect the annual August factory shut-down is your issue right now..

I was hoping that this would mean an early production date, but with others here reporting that they actually have assigned dates (or known weeks, at least), I'm now starting to wonder what's up with my order...? |

You may be but that first in line slot will not be until September, that's why the phone system keeps saying scheduled for production... There is no production going on right now.
Edit: Some CA's are more proactive than others in terms of providing information to clients. Press for the information if you want it. He/she should be able to provide you the production week. Frankly, most clients don't spend their days on forums and checking the phone system to track orders like we do so he may not be used to such an informed buyer...

I'm a little sensitive to the date, because I need to plan out when to start trying to sell my current car. Sept, is only a week away so the wait for production, in general, to start won't be long. Hopefully, I'll have the exact date soon then! |

Based on what I know (and I have a MY2012 on order, with a production number and ED pickup date), I think you would be lucky to take delivery before the end of November.
I think the earliest Production Week for MY2012 is 38. Even if your build starts late September (no guarantee), apparently no one can get a MY2012 before October 15th due to emissions recertifications that need to happen. So, if your car doesn't even leave BMW until mid-October, by the time it finally comes over via customs, VDC, etc., you are looking at November. Last edited by SamS; 08-24-2011 at 01:40 PM.. |

Yeah, I was hoping for a delivery in Oct, but Nov is most likely. I just want to be able to estimate the arrival date because I want to time the selling of my car - I'm hoping to avoid being stuck with a rental car for a month to fill in the time in between!
Wow, so nothing is even leaving Germany until at least Oct 15 regardless? |

I called BMW twice and they made no mention of the plant shut down, neither did my CA. I'm in the same boat as you, ordered 3 weeks ago, 11 E90. Production should start up next week. It will be worth the wait

I promise you it happens every August. Holiday for workers and a chance for the plant to re-tool for any model changes....

I have a 2012 e92 M3 on order and my PW is 36 - other people with MY12 also have PW 36 so I think that's the PW when BMW is starting to build MY12s

Darn! Just got a reply from my email customer service at BMW NA. They still claim that there is nothing they can do on their end and that I have to get a hold of my CA.
Getting a hold of him is like trying to catch a Yeti! |

I just got my production number today and I ordered 3 weeks ago as well. I was told I was first up for Oct builds but I'm guessing I won't see anything until December. Guess just gotta be patient no matter how hard it is ;-)

I got my date from my CA when I placed my order. He checked to see what the next opening was when I ordered. I went through Ryan @ Steve Thomas. Did you use him or somewhere else?
