2012 E92 M3 production started !!!

just called BMW to track my 2012 M3
they say production started August 12th, it should be complete by September 2nd

weird thing is my production week was 36 which is september 5-11
so it's finishing early!
if i'm lucky i might get my car around my bday (oct 13)

Congrats... most probably you will get it before Oct 13 (assuming a Sept 2 finish) if not doing PCD.

wow
it seems like BMW is taking TOO long to produce your car...
it took them 5 days to complete mine..

anyways,,I hope everything goes well. My car is waiting at the port right now to get it shipped to US.

His car cannot be a 08/11 production or it will be a MY2011. The August 12 start of production is just academic, what really counts is the finished date.

I had the same issue last year. The timing is such that his order is paused by the factory shut-down in August. My car last year, ordered late July, showed in production for the entire month of August. Like kmarei, my car was actually built the first week of September.

PW38 now... Individual had some supplier problems that delayed production for 2 weeks. However the ED pickup date is still the same 28th of Sept.

So you should get your car some 3 weeks before mine...

By the way, the more 6NR I install in customer cars, the better I appreciate that option. You are going to like it a lot... Pandora and WebRadio are simply much better sounding than Sirius Radio by a landslide.

OP Congrats!

I'm am very glad that I delayed my production/ED to wait for 6NR. The free iPhone Calendar integration via 6NR a couple of weeks ago was great.

Damn I have PW36 too, but I just got confirmation today that I'm taking PCD on November 1st. (they offered me the week earlier but I couldn't fit it into my schedule)

Although I think PCD takes a little longer but I'm not too sure.

That's the reason that I'm not doing PCD... adding 2 more weeks of production and another week for ED on top of your PCD date, doing PCD would have been somewhere at the end of November for me at the earliest.

So PCD adds about 2 weeks to production? Also I have really wanted to do PCD for a long time, so the extra 3 weeks wait is worth it to me. Besides, my local dealer (which I would take courtesy delivery through) has a bunch of idiots as employees. I really can't stand them, and wouldn't trust my M3 with them (I'm going to so somewhere else for yearly service and do in-between oil changes myself).

PCD adds about 2 weeks or so to delivery.

Yea I just got the email from them saying how they take delivery ofmy car 2 weeks prior to my PCD date. Also, I'm on the same boat as OP.. My car entered production yesterday (8-26) and is scheduled for completion on September 5th. Now I'm debating if I should skip PCD to take delivery on the vehicle 3+ weeks earlier. Hmmmm...

I have M3 delivery Sept 27. Will that be a 2012 model? I understood they won't have any 2012 models. Can I change mine to 2012? Is there any difference?

What did your dealer tell you? Also, you didn't say if you ordered Sedan/Coupe/Cabrio. If sedan, the definitely will be MY2011. Actually, I'm 99% sure you'll get a 2011 no matter what, with that ED date.

No, there's not really any difference. See here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=564631
