Aggg! My car is broke

I think my brand new 1M is broke just got back from the shops and when I pulled into the drive there was smoke coming from under the hood, so I quickly shut her down and popped the bonnet to find lots of smoke and burning oil smell coming up from the right hand side of the engine, where the turbo's are I think . Hope it's nothing serious, cars computer says "no faults"

Will calling my dealer first thing Monday

Sounds like an oil feed line may have came loose. As long as you weren't driving like a mad man should be fine. Maybe a new turbo at worst. Good luck and keep us posted! Turbos are on the left side when facing the motor. The passenger side.

Probably not a big deal so long as you caught it early.

I haven't driven like a mad man, only done 500klms but can't vouch for the 14k's it had on the clock when I picked it up

If you have access to a lift or even a floor jack , and you could take a peek underneath. Maybe try to source the leak point? The downpipe diy threadshould cover most of the simple task of removing the plastic shroud to expose the turbo area.

Ahh also just caught the fact it's rhd. Makes sense now why you said the snails are on the right lol.

Maybe your dealer had a rather enthusiastic technician that performed the PDI?

Yea, just call the dealer or BMWAssist to get it to the dealer. Warranty should cover anything.

That's what I'm worried about. It's not like they can just order me another car, or even if they could, how long would you wait

Except that is the driver's side in Australia, UK and Japan.

Can you start the ignition (press start button without depressing clutch) and then use the left stalk to see how the oil level looks? This may at least allow you to sleep better until it gets to the dealer.

Looks like this is an Aussie car...so the passenger/driver orientation is reversed.
