UK BMW 1M allocation for sale. LOL.

Wasn't aware you could sell something you didn't own, oh and the car pictured is one of our continental friends cars!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/bmw-1m-all...1#ht_500wt_922

What a joke!

Looks like he's been messed about already, shame. TBH - hope he looses his deposit as well (or at least looses on it). Hate it when cars like this get speculated.

Situation here in UK is you paid £1000-00 to get an allocation - refundable until you spec car up. THEN you pay another £1000-00 to spec the car, at which time the whole £2000-00 IS NO LONGER refundable.

As such, the guy here is merely trying to get his £2K back rather than make any money on the car no?? So why the hating??

That's not the situation for everyone in the UK. I paid my £1000 deposit and specced the car at the same time. I don't pay anything now until I collect the car and my deposit if fully refundable all the way along.

Same here, except I only put £500 down.

Ditto Chris.

BTW - the guy on eBay is a dealer...

Interesting. I thought that the situation I experienced deposit-wise and as outlined above (Cooper BMW Teesside) was standard across BMW delaers in the UK. I'm obviously wrong about that, so apologies for presuming that all us UK 1Mrs were/are in the same boat deposit-structure-wise as I (-:

That said, the wording in the Pistonheads ad mentioned above reads " HOW THIS WORKS YOU BUY MY DEPOSIT FOR £2000.00 BALANCE DUE TO BMW COOPER DURHAM IS £40,190" and, as such this guy has found obviously himself in the same deposit scenario as I - not surprising as we both placed our deposits with Cooper BMW dealers (of which there are 16 in the UK - anyone else here buying/bought a 1M from Cooper?).

Another thing here is.......... that the guy/dealer is selling that allocation NOW after having speculated by 'buying' it in the first place, indicates that he doesn't see much upside in getting the physical car and THEN moving it on for a profit like so many speculators do - albeit admittedly with more top end cars like 458s and the like. Or put another way, he obviously got the allocation purely to turn a quick buck; but by getting out now and merely getting his deposit back he doesn't have much hope for premiums being paid on physical 1Ms once the allocation has gone/sold out.

I never saw the 1M as such; although I would expect it to perform pretty damned well residual-wise in general.

Sorry, don't hate everyone... TBH didn't have a problem with BoxerCup when he moved his 1M on, he had his for 6 months I think and lost about £1K so good for him. With this one, well it's a dealer for starters. Why would a dealer reserve a couple of cars? Maybe they're selling them on a sale or return basis?

Ooo, saw my first 1M today, did sound nice and it wasn't even trying.
