The hunt for the ActiveE hood! Continues...

Well, I really did some digging and it looks like this hood will be extremely difficult to get your hands on. I really tried. I provided the part number from REALOEM and it turns out the number is an 'engineering' part number(ActivE hood part# 41614881303). Just not able to order using this part #. I was also told, 'The BMW ActiveE is just a prototype, not a series production vehicle.'

So I am talking to family in Germany and Austria to keep an eye out for a VIN# on an ActiveE as soon they become available and try to order it that route. It does look like it will be even more difficult to acquire than the OEM E46CSL parts were to get, even though those were available but quite expensive on the black market.

I hope I can get my hands on one. I think it would look awesome on this car! Not to mention the OEM fit and finish! I'll keep you guys updated....

Interesting! Humm...

Well.. at least we know the part numbers. A German friend of mine told me that Alpina won't sell you their parts (say for theier cool airbox for the 335i/B3) unless you provide them the car's registration papers AND a photo of the damaged part! The photo is over the top even by German standards! lol

I see you're on it now, eh?! Did the Clockwork car make you really want one (minus the useless vents)? I love the hood they have on that car; I didn't like the vents really either. Looking at the ActiveE though...it seems a bit much/wide for me...I'd love to see more pictures (without the decals). What color do you have?

I have AW just like the picture above. I photochoped the decals out in it. I kinda like that it is wider, minus the vents and not as tall as the M3 style. I liked the M3 powerdome on my sedan but think this AE hood would look better on the 1M. Something different.

Would LOVE to have a M3-style hood minus the dumb vents.

I just talked to my BMW Zentrum today. They told me the hood costs 344 euros but BMW can not tell them when the part would come(in) IF they ordered one. I am not sure IF that 344 euro price is with or without the German 19% sales tax. Probably without bc my dealer always knows I don't have to pay the German tax.

It's weird that this hood costs about the same as a normal 135i hood.

YuP! just like when I ordered my 1M VO model in 1:43rd scale... you simply place and order with a dealer and wait for the part to come. Might be a few months though. Unless Scott26 reads our posts! But then again he is in the marketing dept and not parts! lol

Lol. That hood is a great alternative. I actually like the vents on my hood

Good luck on the search!

I've gotten a lot of PMs asking about the hood. And several have been asking without the vents. I know DTMrack has a couple of hoods left that are 'vented' at the bottom, but the dents are sealed off. So you wouldn't have the vents at the top

I don't know.

Here's a pic I took with my cellphone a day they fitted it onto my car to see what it would look like.

Please keep in mind that the latch was open when I took the pic. In other words, the hood wasn't completely closed.

Just trying to chime in and point you in any direction I can!

Kill the hood latch things and the other vents and we have a winner.

The hood looks good, please keep us updated on your progress in finding it!

Personally, I don't mind the hood vents on the Icarbon model. Considering how hot the N54 runs, any extra venting you can get is a plus!

A lot of people seem to be fond of those vents. I'm not too convinced about them. I like the vents from mine the best

I don't know if it would look good without any vents though. They add a little touch of detail.

As far as the extra latches...not a good idea. The hood is extremely light and the 1 series only has one latch in the middle, as does the 1M. The latches are a safety precaution that is absolutely necessary!

I haven't seen too many aftermarket CF hoods/trunks(besides Vorsteiner) that don't have ANY fitment issues. And so many excuses, "the hood wasn't shut completely" etc. I mean, seriously, if your going to take a picture of the hood to try and sell the damn thing, SHUT THE HOOD COMPLETELY! LOL

Hence, why I started this thread and why I am trying to get the ActiveE hood.

whoa whoa whoa... I was just trying to be helpful. The hood was on my car because they wanted to test fit it and take some real shots. I just happened to snap one with my cellphone. I have nothing to do with this hood at all and am not trying to sell anything here. The only reason I mentioned that it wasn't closed is because it wasn't closed. That's it.

Btw, I have a STARCK performance double sided hood on my car and it fits just fine.

Good luck, I guess.

It's cool that you are trying to be helpful by directing people to yet another hood with vents, when they clearly stated they didn't like vents on their 1M hood. Unless you hand made either hood yourself, you shouldn't take it personally. I just don't see too many aftermarket hoods without ANY issues. It's just my opinion. I am more anal than most I guess. I stand by what I said. Always some excuse about the fitment. Kinda like, we ran out of time to properly adjust the hood before we spend all this time and effort in doing a photoshoot..... Some of us will not settle for anything less than OEM quality if not better!

The trunk fit like a glove from day one without any tweaking necessary.....
