For those with DTC pads...

Are you using split friction 70/60 or 60s all around? If 70/60, are you experiencing any rear squirm under the transition to threshold braking? What are your impressions of them at the track?

I've been running HP+ (gifted to me) so far this season, but I'm looking for more bite and higher up in the pedal. More fade resistance is always a plus too.

the 70/60 combo is fantastic. the balance feels neutral to me, and the fade resistance is great. HP plus are decent for like an autocross pad, but your braking will improve by leaps and bounds with the DTCs. can't comment on 60/60, but i imagine it would also be quite good. i just went with the 70 compound up front because the price difference was minimal, and 70s feel like they have a hair more initial bite without sacrificing too much of the nice smooth release of the 60s (had both 70/60 and 60/60 on my e46 m3, and thought the 70/60 was a very slight improvement).

Thanks, highly value your input. BTW, where are you from? Just wondering if I've run across you at any tracks and not known it.

no prob! i'm actually somewhat local to you - in central NJ. i haven't been getting much track time lately between work and my ever-expanding list of hobbies, but i usually go to nasa (and occasionally bmwcca) events at njmp, summit, pocono, the glen, lrp, etc.

might be stopping by the cca event at lightning next weekend, but it'll have to be a gametime decision.

I ordered DTC70 front and DTC-60 rear based on reviews posted here by Ruffan and M3 09 AND135I 11. I don't remember what they said except that they were really happy with the pads.

glad i found this thread! i run HP+ now and am looking to step it up a notch for next weekend at LCMT. from what i had been led to believe, the DTCs are a big jump up. i got the recommendation to try HT10s instead

how hard do you guys drive/brake? i'm an upper-B group driver now with a mostly stock car. will be upping to 245 NT01s for next weekend as well...

ANY advice/commentary would be awesome

I ran DTC 70/60's at Putnam Park last weekend and had to rework my braking points and pressure (in a good way due to their bite). I run in a A/B and did not have any fade this weekend.

Off topic, but are you using stock seats with that harness? What Schroth fitment are you using? The E9x harnesses aren't yet out, and the E8x might not be out till next season (I called and spoke with them not long ago), so I'm curious.

Xaeryan you can see the kind of setup that's available for our cars in this Suburu thread, posts 4 and 5. It works fine with our stock seats. But it doesn't remove completely from the car like the Quick Fit harness that Schroth has been promising forever. So you unhook the harness from the rear straps and hide it under your seat.

OK, I didn't realize there was only one model of it; I was used to looking at the Quick Fits and so on where they have different part numbers per model.

I should probably start a separate thread for my next question, and someone stop me if they agree strongly; are the seat mounting points and so on the same in the 1/3 series? I think I'll wait for the E9x Quick Fit and just get that - based on what I gleaned from Schroth, it's the TUV approval process for the seats in the 1 which would be the hold up assuming they end up being identical harnesses (which I suspect - unless they are very specific lengths).

yup those are what i have, the schroth rallye 4 with the stock seats.
-the front belts mount on the floor at the stock points (where the receptacle mounts by the center console, and the other under the front of that little rail in the passenger footwell)
.the tailstraps mount at the rear receptacle (by the little center nothingrest) and the base of the oem belt (outside edge of the seat)

hope that makes sense....i can take a picture if you want

they also make a rallye 3 that somehow only mounts in the rear in 1 spot....i think it's up top behind the belt roll.

only important thing to know that's not in any instructions i've seen: you need to remove the rear seat when you actually hook up and wear the belts. it's a safety thing. the seat has a 3 inch lip at the back that actually "begins" the vertical seatback. when the seat is in, the tailstraps need to go over that lip, then down to the mounts. but the lip breaks the straight diagonal line the tailstraps should have going down. if you were to crash, the tension on the belts would snap the lip and the belts would give up that tension, then snap tight again.

i talked to the guys at hms, and they said the quickfit will eventually come out for the 135. just wasn't worth waiting for me. makes such a huge difference over the whole Make The OEM Belt Lock Up thing

ready....seque.....

so how bout those brake pads?

Continuing the thread hijack, here's what the Rallye 3 looks like. I personally would rather remove my rear seat to use the Rallye 4 than worry about having to convince tech inspection that the Rallye 3 is okay.

i'm always in favor of maintaining tire-limited braking, so if you're getting r-comps, i'd say skip the HT-10s or HT14s and go straight for a real race pad.

interesting though. unfortunately i put this off for a few weeks, so had to make a quick decision. i went with the HT10s...didn't wanna be playing with too many new factors while at a new track in an open run group. squared r comps are already gonna be a big enough difference (over staggered star specs)
