Good little 1M video through some twisties
I really enjoyed this video and was quite surprised at how positively the 1M turned into some of the corners!
Oh hurry up BMW and build my 1M |

Nice video but that guy is kind of nuts for driving that fast on those backroads.
I wonder where it was filmed? Its not Germany... but I suspect somewhere near the Austrian/Italian border area. |

The 1M is nothing short of amazing... fun drive... glad to see the driver used signals and slowed down in areas....
if the owner is reading this... 1) if this is near Italy/Austria... let me know..hehehehe 2) get some Castrol SRF brake fluid |

"nuts" would be one way to describe him, I have another. I predict we see "1M crash #5" on the boards soon Edit: The rev sound is quite nice, though!

Switz most likely, not Italy for sure, the roads are definitely Switz. Tried to make out the road signs, but couldn't. The houses though, generally a dead giveaway. Saw some Squared off A Frame extensions on the houses, and they dont do that in Italy, at all.
And upon further review, the road signs aren't Italian, the few yellow plates on vehicles and the signs on the sides of the commercial buildings aren't Italian. Definitely not Italy lol. And most obvious sign of all, the sticker on the windshield in the camera.... not Italian. Last edited by Daniel135i; 08-06-2011 at 02:50 PM.. |

Does not compute. I mean, is the point to see how efficiently he can drive like an asshole?

not complaining, making an observation. True, we've all done foolish things. Just not all of us record it and post to YouTube. Reeks of showing off.

2:14 "Turbo lag is really huge..."
Really? Huh. That doesn't seem to be what the majority opinion is.

That 1M Czech ride was indeed a walk on the wild side. Looks like he had a near miss with a VW Golf around 07:20. He repeatedly complained about fading brakes.
However the most fascinating movie of this kind ever shot in the real world, remains IMHO "C'était un rendez-vous" (i.e. "It was a date") filmed by Claude Lelouch. Notorious and controversial. Shot in Paris at 5:30am in August 1976. Fabulous engine sound, unfortunately dubbed (Ferrari 275GTB). Downright amazing and mad. A must see for car enthusiasts. For those who have never seen it yet, fasten your seat belt, wear your headphones and pump up the volume, because here it is: Same concept: 993 Turbo racing the streets of Stockholm at dawn in August 2000. The raw engine sound is simply mind blowing: |

Two of my all time fav car videos!! Only thing better is Ruf's Fazination on der Nuerburgring with the original CTR Yellow Bird. I remember seeing a video of Claude Lelouch showing how he drove the camera car around Paris - early that faithful morning. He used his own personal '78 MB 6.3 SEL(?) as the camera car! He said its nuematic suspension was better at isolating the bumps for the camera! lol Dackel |

I actually thought he driving for the most part was well planned. As a qualified advanced driver, he was using a number of techniques such as offsiding to open up the view. Most of the overtakes were well executed but he did get a bit close on one of them (should have held back for a better view).
Anyway, the point of the post was to show how the 1M performed down a twisty road and it looked like it did really well |

35l/100km = 7.71 Imp Gall/62.1 miles = 8mpg!!
Guy can undoubtedly drive but really should be on a track at those kind of speeds - especially sustained for quarter of an hour and through all bends as opposed to a quick wind up through the lower gears on a straight bit of road to enjoy the acceleration and sound (about as ambitious/daring as I get on public roads). Enjoyed the vid though - made my head spin a bit here and there - especially at 7:22 (the near miss) and 13:25 through those tight turns! Cheers for the posting. M1ke |
