M3 price in Germany
While I was doing my european Delivery, I forgot who I was speaking to but they said that purchasing a M3 in Germany costs around $150,000? I found that to be insane. Has anyone else heard this?

There is a black E90 M3 at the local German dealer here, it's 97,XXX Euro. At today's exchange rate, it's about $140,000. So I guess it's possible.

That wouldnt work. For one, US spec cars are slightly different: bumpers, lights, speedo, etc. To bring it to Germany, you would have to convert to conform to German standards. And then you still would have to pay tax on it regardless. So you dont save anything... Sad but true. Last week, when I was there for ED, my german friends pointed out that it is somewhat unfair: Germans have to pay much higher price for German car, we get it for about half the amount....

entry pricing for the e92 M3 coupe is 68.750 euro incl. tax (even if it's 19%....we have to pay it so I don't care if it's 10 or 19%).
entry pricing for the bloody naked M3 coupe is $58.000 excluding tax. Based on the actual Euro/ $ of 1 Euro is 1.41 rate BMW is making tons of money on the European M3s and selling them for a very low pricing in US. That's with all german cars in US. Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen,.... So a German M3 without tax is 57k euro but a M3 sold in the US is only 41k Euro and BMW has to pay tax and shipping of these 41k Euro which they don't have to when selling it in Germany. Compared to German prices they are cheap like hell! Why? As long as people pay the prices here in Germany they're making Billions of profit and with the low prices in US they're entering the US market much more easy. I know....it's absolutely not fair. Especially if you bring the import taxes into the calculation which they have to pay when bringing the car to US. That's why I already shipped 4 cars "back" from US to Germany. It's still worth the effort.

If I'm not mistaken, cars in general (every brand) are cheapest in the US.
We pay significantly more than in the US too. Starting price of $72,000 for an M3 in Canada, although our dollar is at par with the US dollar. Most cars I see in dealer inventory are in the $90-100K range, as people generally do not buy stripper M3s. Plus we have higher taxes. So add 13% more to that price (here in Ontario, the most populous province of Canada). The US really is the luckiest country in terms of car prices and gasoline prices probably too.

Some modifications to make it Canadian spec and be able to legally drive it in Canada. BMW Canada says they must be done at the dealership where they cost $$ (they overcharge to discourage importing). However, some people including a few forum members have imported without taking it to the dealer (they've taken it to other garages) and it apparently has worked out. We would also need to pay an additional 6% import fee as car is made in Germany. In addition to trying to make life hard for those who import, dealers have also tried to compensate by adding standard equipment (e.g. BMW) or in some cases, lowering their prices (e.g. Porsche). This has only happened in the last couple of years. For my 335i, importing didn't make sense anymore because of what they ended up adding to the 335i for 2010 (while they were subtracting at the same time from the US models). For M3's, due to the significant price difference, it's still worth it if you have a large amount of cash readily available to pick up a lightly used M3.
