6MT clutch feedback / noise question
I've got another thread going about a 6MT and clutch/transmission problem with the dealer and I wanted to bring up something else that I've noticed.
When I am pushing in or releasing the clutch I can feel a pumping or vibration in my left foot that matches the sweeping of the windshield wiper motor when they are running. Each pass it has a strong pump in the clutch. Anyone else notice this? It's a pulsing feeling that comes up from the clutch pedal almost like the pressure is changing. This has become worse over time and also when I'm using the clutch now the pressure is not smoothly fluid. Its like I'm pressing with bubbles in the line and I can feel a squishy sensation. The problem is even more pronounced when I wear my smooth leather shoes. The sensation reminds me of squeezing water out of a sponge, it's that kind of squish squish feeling...or maybe like walking around in wet shoes.

I have a 6MT the clutch is quite smooth unlike what you are describing. I suggest you have it checked at the dealership/service department.

I had the same issue with my '06 e90 330i MT. Every time the wipers were on I could feel the vibration in the clutch and brake pedals with each swipe of the wiper arms. I also felt the same thing in my '08 e92 335i AT (only in the brake pedal, obviously). I have not used the wipers in my '10 e90 M3 MT yet but would not be surprised if the same thing occurs.

*******Ok! listen up. The first 8 months of the M3s production in 2008 they used a smaller clutch that causes all kinds of issues.
These "issues" are normal - the noises the sensation and weird feedback..all NORMAL The SA and 99% of the mechanics at the dealers don't know that BMW redesigned the clutch and flywheel after the 8th month of 2008s production on the M3. So how do I know this!? Well the pressure plate on my clutch went out and they have to replace my clutch. I read the paper work and they replaced the flywheel too.. I ask why? Then I checked up on it. The older clutch is too small for the new flywheel. In other words the old and the new don't fit together. After I picked up my car I went to EAS in Anaheim California and Tom@EAS confirmed that they did in fact replace the clutch and flywheel design after those first eight months. He knew this from when he replaced his own clutch on his preview 2008 M3. Ok - good luck with getting a dealer to replace any of your parts under warranty. Here's my thread that I made a few weeks ago for the replacement work that was done on the flywheel and clutch due to the malfunctions of the pressure plate..******* http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=565074

First off I have a 2009 model E92 which according to the door was produced in 09/08, and I believe the germans do the date with M/Y flipped so it's actually produced in 08 of 2009. Are you saying this car has a known issue with the pressure plate/clutch/flywheel? I'm more confused than ever with some members writing back that they have the same issues as me and it's totally normal and others write back saying it's a problem and they had it replaced under warranty. You can understand my concern when the dealer tells me there is something wrong with it on the test drive, but then once they have the car for 2 days in the shop they return it saying it was air in the clutch lines and it's totally normal. Of course I still have the same grinding and I've had about 5 times in the last 2 months now where the gearbox has kicked the shifter back out of gear with a grinding noise. This last time tonight it sent me into the rev-limiter as I ended up missing a 1 to 2 shift. I went back on the gas after the shift and it ground 2nd gear and kicked the shifter out, but since I was back on the gas I ended up bouncing the rev-limiter. Not only do I have the risk of a blown gearbox, but now i'm risking a blown engine since it's missing shifts. Please explain more about your post. Thanks, X
