Problem installing BSH OCC ... need some help

So yeah ... shouldn't be hard to do this and I was ready to finish it however, the parts in the picture don't thread together. Any ideas. I called BSH and they mentioned to send it back to them so they could tap it some more but if I can do this at home I'd rather get it done faster.

I would return it and get another OCC. I had mine on for 18+ months and never had to empty it once! just took it off this weekend.
