Wheel/tire insurance

I read on this forum before. I ordered the 19" wheel option and my dealer recommended this insurance after I mentioned reading the post on this forum. It makes sense in SF Bay area with not so good freeways (Hwy101). Comments are welcomed before I spent good $ on this insurance. I had 17" BBS on my old 3 and paid $300 each time to have the rims (multiple times on each wheel) fixed over a 11 year ownership. I haven't read any detail on this insurance so your input will be greatly appreciative.

Well I got the tire wheel insurance. I live in queens ny and drive into the city now and then (notorious horrid roads/pots holes), as well as going up and down the I-95 which is also garbage. For me it is a must have considering I like yourself have bent/damaged rims in the past and had to pay $$$ to get them repaired. I figure that over the course of my 5 year finance, the odds are highly against my ZCP wheels, and if at least two of them would get repaired or 3 tires replaced the plan would have paid for itself. Ive heard of some members here that have destroyed multiple rims ie: >4 at which instance the wheel replacement cost would have been much greater then the price for the insurrance. I havnt been to Cali but from what I have heard not roads are created equal. I paid 1200 for 5 years.

Joe, thanks for the info. I didn't know that you can only purchase the insurance at the dealership at the point of sale. I paid a little more than you did for the 5 year package. I'm glad I puchased it though, I already scraped the side of my front passenger side wheel. I just picked up the car yesterday! Arggghhhhhhh...

Speaking of which... Does anyone know if they cover the rashes? I looked at the contract looking for the key words, but couldn't find it. Did anyone have their wheel "fixed" after scratching the hell out of them?

Thanks in advance.

If you bought the BMW offering, I don't think it covers rash. But i'll have to dig out my paperwork to read the fine print and confirm that...

Or you can just put a nail under your tire and run it over

LOL!! I could never do that!!! I cringe just thinking about it. I'm gonna see what they'll do for me at the dealership at the 1200 mile service. We shall see!
