Problem with boost/intake

Hi all,

I was just testing the new meth kit but have an issue with what seems to be the intake/intercooler piping maybe?

I did a WOT run to log, but then after that I drove off only to hear the intake sound/woosh very loud, and seems like I have lost power. Almost as if I have a boost leak somewhere along the line. Can anyone recommend where to look for it? I have checked the meth elbow and filter/intake and all looks ok.

Car is running JB4, meth, DPs.

Thanks in advance

Was a bit dark, couldn't really see down there. Hard to see what the CP is like. Actually, not 100% what the CP is? Isn't that just the pipe that leads to the elbow from the IC? Or is it after the elbow?

Never mind i found out the problem. not sure exactly what part it is but it had popped off. Looks like maybe the blow off valve? I pushed it back in but will just come out again.

Take some pics for us Richard. It sounds like it's your charge pipe at the throttle bottle end with the c-clip. It shouldnt be too hard to see as you have the DCI's in there. Theres plenty of places for potential leaks but the charge pipe at throttle body and elbow seem most common.

Also, it could be one of your diverter valves but I'm not sure if you've ever unclipped them before as you never had a need to. They are a pita to undo the first time.

The charge pipe is what comes after the elbow. May 09+ cars incorporate the elbow and charge pipe as 1 piece. The benefit of it is there is one less place for a leak from elbow to charge pipe. That's why I recommend getting the long version if you upgrade to the ER charge pipe as it eliminates the stock elbow which is flimsy rubber which eliminates any leaks and looks cleaner.

Found it. It was the diverter valve. taped it down for now. So is the only option to fix this to get the er charge pipe? Didn't really want to do that its so expensive!

yeh it was one of his stock dvs, he sent me a pic Vin. He fixed it up though so now it should be working fine but I told him to get the er cp and forge dvs or bov in order to make sure it does not happen again.

You can get the forge dvs to use with the stock cp which is the same as my current setup but I had issues with mine similar to whats happening to yours so I am getting rid of the lot and replacing the stock cp and forge dvs with the er cp and tial bov

Glad you sorted it out Matt. I thought it may have been the case as I've found the C-Clip design to be very effective and ER uses the same design in it's CP and HPF do for their FMIC's. If it keeps happening Richard will have to invest in new DV that can handle the boost or go the bov route.

The ER CP is a quality piece Matt. In hindsight I shouldn't have waited as long as I did for HPF to make their CP as it's the one I wanted all along but after 8 months I ordered the ER and it's just awesome, no regrets. I think you made a good call on the Tial. What colour did you get? It should be here soon?

Thanks for the CP advice Vin, I ended up going with the anodized black CP and black Tial BOV.

No problems Matt. I knew you had anodized but didn't know you went black for the bov. That setup will look very clean and stealth in your engine bay
