Question ED Discount @ Dealer?

Has any one gotten ED discount on a new M3 at your local or any BMW dealer? Is it possible for the dealer to give you the ED discount if you can't wait for the car to be build? I'm in the market for a new M3 but due to changing duty station soon I won't have time to go ED plus I will be trading in my 07 E92 335I and will need a car to drive to work. If theres a dealer out there that can do that I will be interested in doing business with. I'm already approved by BMW FS for the M3 I got until 8/31/11 to buy the car with the approval.

ED discount is there for those who go to BMW Welt and pick up the car. Simple as that.

You cannot get the discount with doing doing ED.

Also, those who do ED don't do it for the discount...rather for the experience and joy.

I get that, is not like I don't want to go pick up the car my self, but I'll be going to Germany any way since that's where my new duty station is at, I just don't want to go come back and turn right back around, I think I can go to the Welt any other time since I'll be there for 3 years.

You have to get your M3 under Military Sales, not under ED.

I was trying to but I needed to sell my 335i first before ordering the M3 and since I didn't get the car to sell this is my other option. Military sales gives me double the discount $9000 off on the one I build too bad they don't take tradings.

Again, you cannot do ED if you are going to live in Germany more than 5 months.

Go to bmwusa.com and read the ED requirements.

I know that, I would have to order the car, go pick it up and drop off at the port, have it shipped to the states and then have the Army take it back with the rest of my household goods.

Sell your car to Carmax just before PCS. You are not going to get a better trade in value at any dealer anyways. Then place an order with one of the ED dealers ($500 over invoice) in this forum and set the ED pick up date to be once you are already in Germany if you can (save the plane ticket price). Pick up car and ship it back. Let the Army ship it to you afterwards from the dealer; you could arrange the selling dealer to do this for you.

The assumption is - and the only assumption- that this ED price will be lower than the Military sales price. Otherwise all this would be pointless.

Even Military Sales requires the car to be shipped Conus, I already asked if I can leave the car in Germany and bring it back after my tour there and I was told I can't I need take delivery Conus and then ship it back. I went with Superiormotorsmsp.com this is what I was quoted with them.

If you do PCS to Germany then you can buy your M3 thru Military Sales over there and drive the car for the 3 years of your deployment overseas. Once you complete the deplyment then you just ship it to whenever you are going next.

You cannot do that with ED unless you do it the way I explained above. By the way, the ED dealers here can sell you the M3 at invoice plus some $500 including the options at invoice, something that Military Sales does not do.

Oh that's fine I'm right now on my way home from deployment and will be going to my local dealer as soon as I get back, I'll inquire about doing it at invoice price, I just want to get it out of the way and have the car in Germany by the time I get there.

I don't think that's correct at all. See below link

http://www.pentagoncarsales.com/bmw/faq.php?ref=009#14

Superior is located in Bahrain, and they're probably more accustomed to shipping cars to the US. I used First Choice out of UAE and so far so good, car is being built right now. I would check with one of the dealers actually in Germany. I haven't used them but Pentagon seems to have a pretty good reputation.

http://www.pentagoncarsales.com/

or find a dealer where you'll be stationed

http://www.bmw-military-sales.com/mi...gent_find.html

And while they may not give you invoice pricing on all options like a US dealer they do have some flexibility as they included Satellite Radio on my purchase for no charge. I just don't see the point of buying a car and shipping it across the ocean twice during which time it may be damaged(especially with the lowest bidder contractor the govt would use to send it back) when for pretty much the same price(my M3 cost $1050 more than the invoice ED price which would have gone at least $500 higher for dealer profit plus the cost of having to go to Europe to pick it up) you can do Military Sales and pick it up in Germany. Plus if you register the car in Germany for several months you should avoid paying any sales tax on it which may or may not be a factor depending where you live. The downsides I see would be if you absolutely needed to trade in your 335 rather than sell it and you would also need to order the car now while you're still deployed or once you got to Germany which might then require a few weeks of waiting while it's built.

i'm back from deployment and ordered the M3 ED, the issue is now that it seems that production for the 2011 ends in August and is full already, my sales person is trying to get it thru another dealer for the same price $61000
or trying to find me one build already with most of the options I picked for the same price also if not I guess I will have to wait until BMW anounces the 2012 M3 production dates and order that one, he is also trying to see if I can order the car and keep it in Germany until I PCS from there.
