Oil Cooler

Ok So Im looking to buy an Oil cooer for my 1er. I have seen a thread a while ago about the HKS Twin oil cooler and seen pics of it and it looked awesome. Problem is that I cant find it anywhere to buy. The only Oil cooler I have seen is the one made by CP-E. Which i dont mind buying cause CP-E makes good products but Im sure there is more to choose from out there. Anyone seen or purchased the HKS twin oil cooler? If so Where can I buy it from or if anyone knows of a good oil cooler I can buy let me know. Thanks.

Here is the thread about the HKS Twin Oil Cooler:

AR Design has a really nice oil cooler although quite pricey. HKS Headquarters in the US has closed it's doors, so if you really want HKS products, your best bet would be to order it from Japan.

Do they make this for the 135i? Cause all I found is the cooler for the 335i. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places?

I have the CPE intercooler with oil cooler. The oil cooler is tucked so far under the bumper i doubt its doing any real cooling.

Evolution racewerks has one; i'm contemplating it.

If you track the car yeah it's gonna be helpful.

i've done 25 minute sessions on a 0.7 mile track at over 100 degree ambient temperatures and never saw oil temps over 265 even with COBB Stage 1 tune, stock fmic, stock oil cooler, stock radiator...

I'm sure there is a need at some point though.

Yes I do plan on taking it to the track. I have once already and I could only do a few runs at a time and had to let my car cool down. I figure since I already have my Helix Intercooler on order and getting an oil cooler, this will allow me to run more on the track and put better numbers on the board.

265 is getting up there. When I took my car to the track (1/4 mile drag). I did 4 runs back to back Because I was racing this STI and he was beating me everytime and the races were so close. I was trying to at least beat him once. But anyway I notced that every pass was getting worse and worse and my temps were rising to 265 like you.

Yeah i was at the Big track at Willow Springs and after about 2 sessions the car started creeping up on 265 as well; my tune starts to detune itself at those temps...probably has to do with my novice driving abilities and aggressive driving but still...The ER website has two options,..one a single cooler upgrade and then a more serious double cooler upgrade similar to HKS's.

Just checked out your website. You dont seem to list any coolers for the 135. Can you post up pics and info for the coolers you do sell in this thread?

Really? We're in the process of pulling everything over to a new site but I didn't think those had gone yet...

Let me see if I can dig up the products shots of them...

Yea I has seen the ER twin oil cooler. Not gonna lie it looks sexy.... then I saw the price! I don't think I'm gonna be spending that much. Plus it's not like I'm gonna be racing around the Nurburgring. I'm just gonna do a few passes at the drag strip lol.

I have the ER sports oil cooler kit. It's only on one side but it is almost 3 times the volume of the stock unit. I was interested in the stett as well as there are a lot of posts on it but there is nothing on their website. The ER kit is sweet and keeps the temps down nicely. Wish I could've gotten the stett kit with the t-stat to run nice and cool but they never returned my emails....Fred at ER was spot on and I got one of their first kits out. Wanted the twin cooler setup but it was a no-go with the Dinan intake. I'd recommend the ER kit to any one.

Yea your probably right. No since in spending a G for an oil cooler. The stock oil cooler is good enough. Lol thanks for all the input fellas

Alright guys... I dug up a photo of our Stage 2 oil cooler kit with the thermostat... should show you what's included and give you an idea about it...

It comes with all you see there, mounting brackets, Setrab core, 180-degree thermostat, our patent-pending factory thermostat delete/adapter plate, braided lines and all the necessary hardware. It's the biggest core you can fit on the 135 in the factory location.

We also offer kits without the thermostat for those in hotter climates.
