Noob just saying hi

Well my gf just got a brand new 2012 135i. Apline white with black leather, m sports package, 7sp dct, nav, you name it its proly got it. ive been to alot of bmw forums, and decided to join this one, so feel lucky lol. nah jk, but this one seemed to get to the point more often then not.

here is just a crappy cell pic

now obviously, here comes the stupid noob questions. I WANT A TUNE lol. i know everyone does. ive googled, and yahood, and binged(waste of time) for answers, but cant really find ne. all i know is i cannot void the warranty. so what is out there, or is coming soon, that wont void the warranty. i did here Vinishu's(spelling?!?!) catless downpipe, and OMG it sounds sexy as shit. nice to meet everyone, my name is nick, and my gfs name is kelsi. we will frequent this site alot. look forward to learning many new things about her new bmw

no tune out there will keep your powertrain warranty intact except the BMW Performance power pack. Dinan offers their own warranty, Cobb/JB/Vishnu/GIAC all void the warranty if they are detected/noticed by the dealer. Pay to play... or take your chances on fooling the dealership by removing the flash tune or piggyback tune before taking it in.

Also, as part of the initiation to 1addicts, we require pics of the driver so we know who we're dealing with...

Here is everything you need to know about the 2 tunes on the market.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ht=procede+jb3

They are both basically undetectable, for the JB3 you can pickup the Can tool which will clear all codes and etc before you take the car to the dealer. I personally went with the JB3 since it was a choice of 380$ vs 945$. Procede may be slightly better right now but JB3 is coming out with an upgrade soon so honestly paying 500-600$ for a Procede isn't worth it.

Ah yes, forgot that we're dealing with an N55 motor... Cobb is developing a flash based tune for the N55 (ETA unknown), not sure about Dinan/GIAC/ESS and the others.

all you guys get is a pic of both of us lol

And about it being basically undetectable. i cant do that lol. I cannot void her warranty. If there is even a 1% chance, ill just keep it stock. I have read that all the previous jb3s on the n54s were undetectable if you just removed them. i see the scan tool that comes with the jb3+ right now can clear codes, but can it erase the history and what not.... just dont want to fuck up a 45k car ya know? this isnt my little trans am that i picked up for under half the price. i gotta make sure for the next 4 years, the dealer pics up the cost on any thing that goes wrong lol

Yes the JB3 + CAN Tool makes it undetectable. You remove the JB3 and then the CAN Tool will clear all codes / any history of codes. Only way it can be detected is if they send out the ECU to Germany that can take an extensive look at it.

There is also the option of the N55 BMW Performance Tune but it is 1600$ for 20hp and 30tq.

yea fuck 1600 for 20 horse. i already think the car itself is overpriced by i say, 10k lol. butttt thats another discussion. if i can get some more proof that it does indeed go away with the CAN Tool. i will be picking one up within the next couple of weeks. what ive read is they are close to a stage2 as well. but i wonder if the stage 2 will be undetectable too.. hmmmm

This is a forum not Facebook. We really don't want to see pics of you and you Gf. Lol and learn how to park in between the painted lines just because you have a nice car now doesn't mean you can park anywhere you like.

This car is extremely quick from the factory. I know you're thinking power is worth the possible risk of losing reliability. In many cases, it is. However, the owner and primary driver is of great importance to you and I know that safety and reliability should be your top priority in this case.

A tune will most likely be safe for the engine. I think Terry at Burger Motorsports has served all of us here very well. My recommendation would be to enjoy the car the way it is for now, learn how the car responds to throttle, handling, etc. After you have done this then let the owner make the decision if it is a risk worth taking. Welcome and safely enjoy the new car!

Really? Who pissed in your cheerios? This is one the few forums where people usually have a positive attitude and don't feel the need to play the role of a tool bag, but there's always a couple

If your really worried about warranty, go with Dinan. It's a pricy tune and although it's not BMW's warranty they match the warranty and have a good track of covering anything that BMW wont cover because of the tune.

I don't think Dinan has a tune for N55 yet. But will your girl let you hammer her car before the 1200 mile break-in anyway? And you should wait for one of the frequent 20% Dinan discounts. That makes it around $1550 for stage 2 tune plus no-worry four year warranty.

welcome and nice car as stated before. If your worried about warranty then i would say dinan, because the offer a warranty. My car I bought used with the warranty but am opting to wait for the factory warranty to be up before i put the tune in it. cant wait for next june
