Anybody running a BBK at the track? Experiences welcome
I'm looking at ugrading the front brakes (rears eventually...just a $$ issue) and would like to hear from those who have some experience with kits on the track. I was thinking about the Performance Friction upgrade that Berk Technology runs, but wanted to get feedback on other options. I've driven a friend's 911 before and after he did a Performance Friction BBK and was very impressed.

They sure look impressive. How much are they going for?

There are a few people on here that have done the stoptech upgrades and they've seemed to really like them. Berk says the brakes they use on the car are the best they've ever had too. Find what fits into your budget?? Maybe call or pm the berk guys and see what they say?

I assume you were asking about the performance friction set up. I think I saw them for about $3700 for the fronts...maybe another 3000 or so on the rears. Any descent kit will cost a good bit. I'd rather get it right the first time

Ouch, that's big bucks! But if you going to spend the money might as well get the best. Let's us know if you do get them

You've already found that the OEM Brembo is marginal despite the specs looking great on paper. It's no secret that a quality brake system is a large sum of money. We tried the budget solutions and in the end they were just wasted money that barely masked the symptoms but did not cure the disease. You hit the nail on the head, if you are going to do it, then do it right the first time. It is actually your lowest cost solution if you really think about it! PFC for me please!

I ran a full BBK set up on my 335. Not the best (rotora) but it made a huge difference in general.
After I picked up my 135 I immediately noticed that the brakes did not feel anywhere as good as my 335 stock. I haven't gotten the 135 on the track, but the Diameter and thickness of the front rotors already had me worried. A real bummer since I thought the 135 brakes were almost a "freebie" upgrade. I had set aside a few $$ for nice wheels, but I couldn't find anything that looked good and could fit decent rubber, so I went with custom offset forgestars. I used the rest to pick up a set of Brembo GT's for the price of stoptechs. Going to upgrade the stock rear calipers with SS lines, titanium shims, slotted rotors and track pads. Let you know how it goes once i get my wheels. |

My the 380mm kits, the Brembos run around $7,000, while the Stoptechs less than $5,000 for front and rear kids. .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
