Question BMW Performance Power Kit - who has it?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2012 135i, and I noticed the BMW Performance Power Kit on the dealer accessories page.
Who here has this, and what are your impressions?
Performance, warranty/reliability, cost you paid the dealer?

Thanks!

Just means a little more power and more cooling all backed by the BMW warranty. It's a Win-win.

unitedBMWonline.com is proud to present the FIRST BMW Performance Power kit for the MSD80 ECU. BMW NA air freighted the parts in for our customer and we're thankful for that.

*Note: Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but please respect that the customer wants only BMW approved products, and that the customer is aware that the "JB3/Vishnu tunes give you more power."

Our customer, Steve Woodward has been on the BMW Performance Power Kit wait list since September 2009. His Cashmere Silver 135i has every performance BMW upgrade available, with the exception of the cosmetic carbon fiber upgrades and aerodynamics. Steve came to me in early 2009 looking for a more low end power without compromising BMW's factory warranty. The power kit was officially announced at the beginning of 2009, and his particular kit was not released until May of 2010. That is over a year's wait time!

Eric at BMW informed me of the kit being released, and said if I could get it sold I'd have the first one. Well, we knew just the customer! It wasn't even two weeks before Steve dropped his car off.

The day the vehicle came into service, it was taken to PFM Engineering for a stock dyno run. We did 3 pulls, each in 4th gear. Brett (formally of TRM Racing) helped us out a lot by talking to the guys at PFM and informing them of our video. We dyno'd at 290 Rear Wheel Horsepower, which roughly translates into 330 Brake Horsepower, given the 18-20% industry drivetrain loss.

On Wednesday, installation of the Power Kit began. The technician finished it by the end of the day, and it was ready to go to the dyno on Thursday.

On the way to the dyno, we (with customer's permission) took it for a test drive as shown in the video at 1:27 - 1:39. Again, we did 3 pulls at PFM Engineering. The highest pull was 309 RWHP, which is about 350 BHP. Torque increased about 37.

On Monday, June 7th, Steve picked up his car. He was thrilled that not only does he have more low end power, his warranty is still in tact. He got exactly what he asked for! Don't get into too much trouble Steve!

BMW NA states that the 135i comes with 300 HP, which is a conservative number compared to what we dyno'd at. It is common for BMW to release lower numbers than actual numbers.

The BMW Performance Power Kit is a BMW approved upgrade. The parts kit include:

1) A new electric fan,
2) New spark plugs
3) New radiator hoses,
4) A secondary radiator
5) A new DME.

The install takes about 6 hours, and it must be done at a BMW dealership.

The 135i has the following BMW Performance Modifications:
BMW Performance Exhaust
BMW Performance Short Shift Kit
BMW Performance Suspension
BMW Performance Slotted/Drilled Rotors (Front & Rear)
BMW Performance Aluminum Pedal Kit
BMW Performance Black Grilles

We would like to thank BMW Performance Manager at BMW NA LLC Eric Riehle. He sent us the parts as quickly as possible so that we could be the first!

We would also like to thank Chris and Jimmy at PFM Engineering for the Dyno use.

I also have the same interest as I'm finalizing configuration of an order. I see also from other threads that at one point it seems to have been offered as a port installed option but currently my dealer says that they would need to order it and install locally. He didn't really know a lot about it other than its on the web site. Has anyone's experience included port installation on a factory order? I kind of like the idea of it being installed by someone who does it regularly.

BMW Performance Power Kit - who has it?

I've got it on my 2010 SGM 135i as well as the performance exhaust, which they say adds another 6hp. Easily out-performed the Z4 is version and various 5.0 Mustangs, Cayman s, Carrera 4's, Camaro ss.
I consider it a very worthwhile option for anyone looking for added performance benefits without violating the BMW warranty.
Temp remains at a constant 235-240 degrees during the Florida summer season.

Go for it.

If anything, the cooling upgrades are what interest me the most.

If anyone knows, is the primary purpose of the upgraded electric fan to benefit the car in stop and go traffic? Not sure how it would help under speed (i.e. on the track).

Had it installed at the dealer before delivery. The cooling upgrades is what sold me, being in Dallas, it is well worth it. The factory warranty will cover it, and even roll it in the extended warranty. Just my 2 cents!

I've read a bunch of conflicting reports on how well the additional cooling actually works, I've seen atleast 3 people claim an INCREASE in temps after the ppk install.

I had the Performance pack fitted it it was more fun to drive being more responsive but now I have the GIAC Map installed with the switch unit so my "stock" map is the BMW performance one and the "pump" map is the GIAC. This really brough the car to life
