COBB AP= WTF just happened???
So installed the stg 1 93 octane map (yes there is 93 in the tank) and pushed it hard last night. Seconds later as I dropped back down to about 70 mph, the car starts for lack of a better word "sputtering". I gave just enough gas to maintain that mph and it was fine but if I went anything past 25% throttle it would sputter harder. The service engine light came on while this was happening for about 4 miles. Then the service engine light turned off and the car was perfect again. I did not push my luck from there as I wanted to make it home. Any ideas anyone???

Sounds like HPFP but the codes will tell the real story.

I agree, really sounds like your HPFP... Uninstall COBB and take it to the dealer. I really hope BMW finds a real fix to the fuel pump problem before my warranty runs out. Constant replacement sucks.

I checked the codes and got (P2FA3 mis coding) and (P29D2 misfire in cylinder 6). Anyone know why this would happen? I'm not blaming it on the AP, however it only happened the day after I installed it. Admittedly, this was the first time i "really" pushed it in the car. Guess the N54 didn't like 130 mph+.

11k miles on my 135 no trouble. Two weeks after my Cobb install, my HPFP went out. I dont think its due to the specific cobb tune, but I do feel it wouldn't have happened had I not run a tune at all.
Then again, others with no tunes have replaced their HPFP's.

this happened to me exactly with procede when i started pushing 14+ PSI. I changed spark plugs and now it runs beautifully. Change those first because easiest cheapest, then move on to coils, injectors and hpfp.

I've had this sort of thing happen after changing out parts like FMIC, intake, etc. and not letting the engine adapt before pushing it.
Those don't look like HPFP codes. |

Misfire only in cyl 6 ? sounds like an injector. Have you had all your recall(s) performed ? I'd return the car to stock, bring it to the dealer, address your driveability issue, and continue enjoying your car. Don't blame the tune ! Don't lemon the car !

wow...people are very quick to blame HPFP. That code doesn't suggest HPFP at all. How many miles on your spark plugs?
Could be plugs, coils, injector...way more likely than a HPFP. It only happened on one cylinder. Then again it could have just needed to adapt...or been some bad fuel. Hold off on dealer...car isn't going to let itself blow up or anything. Clear the codes. If it happens again either go back to stock and dealer it, or swap plug, coil, injector to a different cylinder and see if the misfire moves there...swap those separately to isolate the problem.

Removed the tune and took the car to the dealer. Figure what could it hurt. I'll let you guys know what was found. I know it ain't saying much but the current fuel pump is only about 2 months old, and I don't think that's the problem. I'm gonna guess coil pack or injector.
