N55 JB3 from BMS question
So I recently traded in my 06 330i sedan for a 2011 135i DCT, loving this car!!!!. I've been reading thru some posts and exchanged a couple of emails with Terry from BMS and it seems like the stage 1 kit is a good and safe mod for the car with some modest hp gains (50)?
So I would like some opinions from fellow members who have the same car with the stage 1. Do you drive around with engine codes popping out? Gas mileage afected horribly? I expect a decrease as I would be gsining hp. Have you taken the car for service at dealer and have they detected the programming? warranty issues? thanks for the insight.

I guess I would have to become very good at using the cantool to clear all the code before going in.

I have N55 built on Oct 2010. Mine doesn't have latest software but I cannot get latest update because it does not have any campaign listed for it. |

My car is 2011 with n55 built in march 2010. Have not received any letters for for any updates. So my question is, if we install JB3( or is it JB4 now?), we wont gain much power ? Does someone know the diiference between the power gain with this tune for n55 with old software vs the new one?

I think there is some misinformation in this thread. We really need Mike to chime in here.
Im "think" the JB3 works fine not matter which dme software you have. The JB+ for the N55 makes LESS power with the newest dme software. |

I guess while I wait to break in the car BMW can send me the letter, once break in is done I will order the JB3 and get cranking with this bad boy.

I havent read any driveability issues with the JB3, are there any out there? I'm gonna inquire at my dealer about the software update and see what happens.

JB3? Do you mean N55 Stage 1?
Has it been renamed recently? Ken Quote:

I had the pleasure of having Terry install the N55 JB3 on my car this morning. I also picked up some wheels spacers, 10mm for the fronts and 12mm for the rears. I can't thank him enough for the excellent customer service he provided. I could not stop grinning on my drive home from work tonight. Thanks again to Terry and the whole crew!

-The wheel spacer is to give it a wider and more aggressive stance. I was not planning on purchasing them but went ahead when I saw one of Terry's 135i's. I personally can tell a difference after installing them. Overall, It improved the handling capabilities of my car: Corner entry, middle, and exit. I just replaced my stock OEM run flats with Hankook v12 Ventus tires. Bumped up the fronts and rears, 225's in front and 255's in the rear. No rub issues with the setup I have. |
