Cobb Accessport Quarter Mile time

Hey all, I ran my 08 135i at the strip tonight. I am completely stock except for the Cobb stage 1 tune, version 2.02 standard throttle mapping. I had a hell of a time getting the factory run flats to hook up, hence the horrible times. I was stoked about the mph though. Shows the car is making decent power for just a simple tune. I need new tires and I need to work on my lauch, and no doubt this car is capable of 12's. I'm coming from a Subaru STi, so the launch is a bit different. I was spinning into third. Here is a pic of my time slip, I'm car 140.

Nice! With that mph, you should be doing a 12.8ish 1/4mile.

Thanks man! I know, maybe even quicker, I just couldn't hook up. I was having the problem of spinning all the way through second and then sometimes bogging into third, because I wasn't going fast enough, then losing traction a bit at the top of third. Need to work on my launches too. My best 60' was like 2.1.

.7 is a nice reaction time. Better than the 1.2-1.6's i've seen sometimes. Definetly ditch the RFT's!

Thanks, but wasn't too worried about the RT, as it doesn't affect your quarter mile time. I was trying to concentrate on my launch, maybe a little too much! Car is making good power though! Thanks Cobb!

Nice!! Thanks for sharing, yeah I am stuck at 13.5 104mph best stock w/ a 2.0 60' a couple times on OEM RFT. Deft around 2k rpm launch is tough, either bog or spin hard, fine line for sure on these tires.

Great mph for sure!!!

I ran a 12.5 at 111 with Cobb stage 1 and a 2.0 60ft and a 12.7 at 114 with a 2.2 60ft. Definitely work on your launch, feather the clutch like you would from a stoplight only faster, don't just drop it. Try different shift points as well, 6500 is a good place to start. Run flats gotta go.

Once you hook up and reduce your 60 ft, your trap speed will lower a bit to like 108-110mph which is typical for tune only cars.

Thanks for the advice. Just gotta get used to a rear wheel drive car again. I had the same problems with my Mustang back in the day, without the rock hard run flats to compound it. Yeah, I was launching around 2k, feathering the clutch but it just wants to let loose. The track prep there is iffy, especially for street tires. I am used to 1.8 60ft times with my STi, but I love the challenge of this car. So much fun.

Why is that? Seems like it would be the opposite? All of my runs, some spinning more than others, were trapping about the same.

Once you hook up and grip the pavement, you will have less room to gain speed.

You'll see once you reduce your 60ft, your trap is going to reduce, but you'll obviously improve your ET which is what counts in a drag race anyways.
