GIAC e92 tune impressions after 1 year

I recently had my GIAC 91 octane 08 e92 tune removed (ecu flashed back to stock) after running it for nearly a year and here is what my thoughts on this particular ecu "tune" are...

There are spots in the map that had to run very rich. I had black residue coating my rear bumper for the past year, very noticeable on an AW. Not sure what RPM range the rich spots were at but the residue would be present after a 10 mile drive bellow 4K rpm. After removing the tune, black residue has completely gone away. This is the same substance which also coated my cars years ago when I parked them by an airport with jets taking off above. It makes me wonder how refined or customized the tune really is to each car.

Throttle felt more responsive and the car felt like it had more pull/torque under 3.5K rpm with the GIAC flash. The factory map seems to be smoother overall when accelerating hard. Not sure how much wheel horse power was really gained in the end. Car Dyno'd @ 349WHP on a 88+ degree day recently... with Remus Sport mufflers and an under-drive pulley + the flash. Fuel economy has remained the same...

Oil consumption seemed to be slightly higher with the GIAC tune...avg was 6000 miles between +1qt oil indicator pre flash, went down to around 5000 miles for the past year. Not sure if that's tune related vs me spending more time @ higher RPM's causing more blow-back.

...and that about sums it up, is it worth the $. I'd say so and I would keep the tune if not for a SC kit getting installed next week but the air/fuel ratio in certain spots has me wondering because of that black residue.

getting the ess vt1...

I'm getting the ESS VT1 kit installed by Aleks...hopefully right after beemerfest. You can't beat the $ to WHP ratio on the VT1 kit...and any more hp in a non-awd daily driver scares the crap out of me.
