Post your problems on your ///M3 over the years
OK its been couple of days that i have been reading about problems well random problems about our cars. Its scary cause im about to hit the 50k miles weather i should buy a extended or not.
Please post on problems to you cars. OK ILL START but before i do I DONT HAVE ANY ISSUE WITH MY CAR WHATSOEVER I MEAN 0 except for the tranny that was replaced 2008 E92 ///M3 6MT (build late 08) Miles: 37k DRIVING CONDITION: DRIVES LIKE A GRANDMA (just dont provoke me) MAJOR PROBLEM: about a year ago BMW had to replace my entire tranny due to having issue shifting into 2nd gear. this was around 10k miles now im at 37k. (under warranty) and no issue what so ever my main concern is when hitting after 50k my valve or springs might go out, i see some people with 08-10 having this issue right at 46k miles. i sure dont want this to happen to me just incase the warranty goes out. what are your thoughts or better yet please post any problems you had that BMW had to do a major work on your car.

2008 E92 M3 with 27K Miles
Blown left speaker Bad rear tailight passenger side twice. Steering wheel angle sensor went bad. Set off all sorts of errors to DBC, Hill assist, DSC, and something else which I can't recall at the moment. The latest being 2 bad pre cat o2 sensors. Causes multiple misfires, limp mode, and lack of power. Serious hesitation to the engine which might be mistaken for serious engine problems.

15K miles zero issues for me. Had to reprogram DCT to get rid of lag, but that was only a minor annoyance. |

2009 M3 DCT (late '08 build) - 25k miles at lease turn in
1) right brake light error at 8k miles (dealer replaced entire assembly) 2) faulty idle control valve at 10k (caused limp mode and multiple error codes) Other than those two issues, it proved to be very durable. I would guess 25k miles under my use would be equivalent to 50k miles under a normal driver.

11k 2011 e90 M3
A/C drain was clogged so evaporating water was collecting and overflowing onto the cabin floor at 5k miles.. Other than that the car is good.

MY 2009 E92 6200 miles. No major or minor mechanical issues but some concerns:
1. Battery drain issues but I think related to my short 2 mile commute and iPod connection. 2. Air conditioning performance where after 30 minutes of driving, the fan blows harder and harder but no air is coming through the vents. It's not hot air, its no air coming through despite fan loudly blowing at full blast. Like baffles have been closed somehow? 3. Rattles in rear window area. 4. Soft paint. Considering the way this car has been babied with low miles and meticulous upkeep. Stone chips are out of control.

THAT is 'normal', I'm afraid . And yes, this car has one of the crappiest paint jobs I've seen, and I'm not even talking about the ridiculous orange peel . You should look at my car. Just got a Dr. Colorchip kit, which is supposedly great to touch-up large chipped areas, like behind the wheels and such. Hope it works.

@ about 9K miles, my car started acting up......................bone stock, the car would b running and all of a sudden it goes dead, cranks but wont run.leave it for 20 min and it would start and drives fine.
The car was shut off in my driveway and i was on my phone outside the car and i heard the fuel pump started running,WTF.................tried to start the car,and again a long crank and no start. went to the dealer next morning and took the head tech and i about 4 hours till we finally figured out the problem through a short test.we ran a normal test which takes up to 15-20 mins but nothing came back and when the tech heard the fuel pump,he ran a short test and we found out that the ECU is out to lunch. with my luck,it took 3 weeks for an ECU to come from Germany since there were non in the US and here were volcanos in Europe and there were no flights coming or going to Germany. got the ECU and everything been perfect then Knock on wood. |

Can't stop driving this car; it's a problem for my wife and what is not covered by warranty.
8000 miles+ESS supercharge+full throttle acceleration all the time = permanent smile, a problem for some people. |
