Sold: Z4M SuperSprint V1 stepped headers

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:

Item Interest
SOLD!

Selling my Z4M SuperSprint V1 stepped headers. $450 shipped!

These were originally installed on my car about a year and a half ago and I am replacing them with euro headers.
Here's what you need to know about these headers before you consider buying these:

1. These are catless headers

2. The V1 stepped headers were manufactured for the E46 M3 and even though SS say they will fit the Z4M, they do not fit without modification. We tried two separate sets to be sure, and both sets collided with the transmission when aligned with the engine. For this reason these were modified to align properly when fitted to a Z4M and they now fit perfectly.

3. You will see a Serive Engine Soon light as these headers cause the primary O2 sensors to miss-read. The secondary sensors also incorrectly report that they are swapped. We tried installing race cats, relocated the secondary O2s to 90 degree bungs and we worked with ESS to try and tune around it but ultimately we were not able to resolve this problem.

4. Power increase was decent - the car dynoed 298 whp with these headers, and full further SS setup including race mufflers and no cats.

5. One of the pipes is wrapped in heat shielding the help protect the engine mount in close proximity. This can be removed.

We did extend and relocate the rears to behind the race cats. No luck.

Maybe because your race cats allow more emmissions?

I havent heard of anyone using dummy sensors for the secondaries. I suppose this is possible.

Did you try replacing any of the O2 sensors? Next in line after patient Roffle .

Wait, aren't the cats located in section 1? I thought "section 2" was the X pipe.

If these require the SS section 1, are you willing to part with it as well?

I didn't realize that this doesn't bolt up to the stock exhaust. I'm backing out. You're next in line

I was using a full SS catless setup: SS headers + connecting pipe + x pipe + mufflers.

SS says you need either the SS connecting pipe or their SS metallic cat system however I'm sure a good fabrication shop can make anything fit.

I'm not selling the connecting pipe since we already attached the euro headers to this section.

so to clarify to the future buyers(my understanding)...

-the v1 will not bolt up to the factory system
-you will need to do minimal fabrication to make it fit(any muffler shop)
-you will need a tune to bypass the primary 02's as long as you keep the secondary cats on.... active autowerke or ess

an amazing buy nontheless
