Interior trim query - what if no Nav or apps?

If you opt for neither the Navigation system nor the BMW apps, do you still get the display at the top of the dash over the centre stack?

Do they pull the display and make it a storage cubby? Or do you get the flat dash like in a base 128 or 135?

Anyone have details on that? Canadian car.

No display if you don't get the NAV.

Some people had made a little storage cubby in their dash where the pop-up NAV used to be (on earlier 1-series). It requires cutting/sawing/etc., so not for the faint of heart. It probably is on the DIY section. A lot can go wrong, you have airbags near by, rattling can occur, etc. I personally never understood why someone would gutt their car like that, but hey, if it works for them...

EDIT: Here is the video

Don't know about Canadian Options, but the cubby box on the dash comes with the Extended Storage option 493

The dash will be flat if you don't go for the NAV - no screen for you.

Thanks for the replies. Kinda too bad, as I like the look of the pop-up on the dash. But don't think I care enough to go in there and DIY with a Dremel - caarrrrrraaazy!

Funny as most people's biggest complaint is about the screen and how it looks out of place. I personally love it on my 1er.
