Question m3 performance exhaust

I thought I posted about this last night, but the thread seems to have disappeared or I am going crazy.

Anyway, I'm looking at BMW's new M3 performance exhaust. I have an opportunity to get one for really cheap and I was wondering if anybody has any experience with it? Have you heard it, is it worth the money?

For $4500 it is too expensive, but for $3400 it is almost equivalent to every other titantium exhaust out there, but this one is made out of inconel and it is a hell of a deal. Plus, I never have to worry about it cracking or breaking. If it does take it right to the dealer for a warranty fix.

If the sole purpose of wanting an exhaust is to lighten your car, or have a gently ramped up sound, go for it. But personally, if I'm getting an exhaust, I'm looking for performance gains, rather than weight loss.

^ and don't try and tell me the lost 20 lbs will give you performance gains = 12-15 hp.

No exhaust is going to give you any meaningful performance gain man; it's all about the sound .

Hey OP, I wouldn't call $3,400 'cheap' by any means, since you can buy an equally light (or lighter) alternative for a little over half that, and it wouldn't hang like a cow's belly , but if it doesn't drone, then I'm with you. I wouldn't spend that kind of money, but if you paint the abomination black (like I did with my stock exhaust), it wouldn't be noticeable from behind. Post a sound clip when you get it.

yeap either or is good.

you will get less bites from people here in the forum if you are going to try to sell the performance exhaust.

with all the hype about exhaust the exhaust that holds the most value is AKRA.... that is the only reason why i got it....

I don't know about this. I'd love to pick up a used one. Not going to spend the ridiculous money on a new one.

if they sell it cheaper than the akra or other exhaust im with you... but 4500 retail seems like its going to be a high value on the resell...

The Akra or Vanguard seem like the better alternative if all it does is enhance the sound and have negligible hp gains. But for warranty purposes I can see the value for it's worth.

To be fair there is a point in having a search function, nothing wrong with 'similar' threads but it would be on the assumption you had done some research before asking the same questions. Then again maybe its more an issue of annoyance if you are a regular on the forum boards and notice the same topics come up.... i dunno...

I've looked at the AKRA and it is too loud. I want something more subtle. The vanguard I have never heard of, but the tips look like junk in comparison. The BMW exhaust looks decent and for the discount, it might be what I am looking for since at this price it is on par with the other titanium exhausts out there. I am just curious if performance is on par with other units and if anybody has one to speak from personal experience.

if its the AKRA EVO yes its a bit loud but comparison to the OEM BMW performance which is just the axle back and the slip on akra its not much of a difference from the video it seems like the performance is a little bit louder.. but usually video doesnt do justice... some loud some quite...

Got the BMW performance exhaust installed, the sound is awesome, not too loud below 3000 rpm but when you hit over 3000 rpm it is a monster, love it!
