Injured 128i :(
I have a question that I am not 100% sure about. I live near D.C. and we had some high winds on Friday. (60+ mph) Wind gusts eventually ripped shingles off the roof of my apartment. One of them smacked my windshield leaving some scratches on a decent size section of my windshield. Whose insurance would that have to go under to get fixed? Mine or the Property management?

Yours. I doubt any Property Management Company would be willing to claim that, especially if the windshield was just scratched. Ask your insurance, if the scratches aren't too deep, they may actually buff out. I know USAA will waive the deductible if the windshield is repairable by their reps.

that sucks, at least it didn't damage the body work. Not sure who you'd have to contact, but I have glass coverage on my auto policy. Had to use it once and it wasn't any hassle at all.

I'm in Silver Spring and last month's "Thundersnow" brought a tree limb down that damaged my wife's Ford and my E91, both which were parked in our driveway.
The auto insurance paid for all but $100 of the total $4,000 damage under the comprehensive portion of the policy. Since we were not at fault, our premiums should not rise, but we'll see... And today, conditions are ripe for a possible tornado in the DC/Balto area! Tom |
