Same profile in the rear?
I have always thought that you need to have a larger profile in the front
But after some research, I have found that, depending on the size of the tire, you can have the rear be the same profile I'm looking at these specs: 20x8.5 et 32 20x10 et 25 With these tires: 255/30/20 Nitto 285/30/20 Nitto Now, I know that if the rear was 275/30/20 it would be fine... but what about the 285/30/20? Is that an ideal size? Thank you

i know some people here using 285 rear dont have any problem depending on tires but remember make sure your drop cause running 20' wheels look like a 4x4 on a stock height m3 but you should be ok to run 255/30 and 285/30 although it looks like that you might need spacers on the front to have it flushed rears are ok with the 285 but front definately need a spacers..

Not that u dont need it its just running 20 is a bit tricky to pull it off on an M3 meaning u must be aggressive and drop... Sorry its harder to type it than showing u in person U can still pull 10mm and use 255 but u might rub on full lock turn... With or without spacers...

found out front is 8.5 vs 9
so a spacer will be needed to be flush, but not required a drop.. well a drop is 'always' a must on the forum right? stock wheels or aftermarket lol

I'm on RD sport springs with:
20x8.5 et10 20x10.5 et15 245/30-20 285/30-20 I had the fenders slightly rolled and it doesn't rub at all.... IF you wanted to match my offsets, then you need: 20x8.5 et 32 (22mm spacers) 20x10 et 25 (16mm spacers) if you want something more conservative, 20x8.5 et 32 (10-15mm spacers) 20x10 et 25 (5-10mm spacers) Keep in mind I'm running 10.5 and you have 10.0. The 285 rear tire stretched more on my wheel creating more fender clearance... ALWAYS!

I can appreciate an aggressive set up, but it's just not for me. The rear is perfect for me. the front I may add a spacer. I would rather not roll my fenders. I rather it not poke out too much lol a drop is a different matter. I wouldn't mind if you wanted to post some pictures :P

Here's some shots so you can see the fitment in reference to the fender... You can see what I mean by the stretch of the tire in the last picture.

ok so basically to make it flush, I'll need to add a 10mm spacer to the front to make it 20x8.5 et 22
What spacer would you guys recommend? I'm thinking maybe MS?

with the offsets you're quoting sound similar to the bbs offsets on mine - the original profile on my rear's which are the same size and offset, recommended tyres were 285 25 20...however, the ride was pretty firm and i managed to crack the rears in some bad potholes...
So I'm changing the rears to 285 30 20 and having spoken to both tyre fitters and Donbona's who also has this profile tyre, I'm told it's an improvement. As for lowering - the pics show that the rear is not too bad with standard height (these are the 25 profile tyres) but the front looks like it could do with shorter springs and spacers...BUT and a big but my daily driving here in the UK involves speed humps which are all over the place and as I use myine for daily use I wouldn't lower it any more than stock unless I had adjustable coilovers like kw variant 3...
