Should I get the RPi GTM Full System?
My brain has fixated on the RPM GTi Setup that @Krozi and @shane335i have... I can't stop thinking about it - but I am going crazy over whether this will be too loud.... I thought I'd post this dilemma and get everyone's inputs... What do you guys think - should I get it?
I was heavily into motorcycles before and had several Ducati's with open exhausts - on bikes I never seemed to mind a full system and how loud it was... Never had a full system this loud on a high perf. car before.. |

rpi is an awesome product and company. I love the system i dont think you can go wrong with rpi but it seemed on the loud side to me however nothing that you couldn't deal with.

In a week you'll be so used to the sound u won't even realize that it may be "too loud"
It's a race car it could never be too loud

How old are you? If you are over 24 don't get it. The drone will drive you nuts and it's not worth the sound.
Also, I have seen the RPI mufflers in person and they look really bad imo. Much better choices out there. |

I'm waaaay over 24. The drone doesn't get to me. If you want to pay alot of money for very little noise then don't do it at all. Most of the time, when you change out the midpipe, it will be loud no matter which route you go. If you go axle back and want little noise, what's the point?

Rpi cans are ugly when looking directly behind. At night if u are driving behind it ur headlights reflect off of it giving off a cheap look. Like those greddy and hks pipes they like to put on hondas
I like the tips tho just not the muffler cans |

These are all opinions obviously from these folks. You get the people who like them and the people who dont. I dont agree that there is a lack of quality at all, I wouldnt have bought them if that was the case. I do agree however than it can look a bit "cheap" at night with headlights shining on them from behind - then again - I dont care cause I dont see it! It might have been better if they had not polished that section of the pipe.
Now - I have the same background as you with motorcycles etc. I love loud pipes on bikes and I am going to tell you straight out - this thing is loud. Its not a "little" loud, its fucking loud!! It does drone somewhat but they all do, its not terrible and easy to work around with gearing (ie - I just shift so I am not cruising in that "drone zone"). It sounds great but it DOES sound like a race car man, and it is loud no matter which way you slice it. If you are concerned then I would just go with a catback - you can always add the front section later. The catback sounds great too IMO but is mellowed with the cat and resonators of the OEM front section. I will even admit that I have though about putting the stock front section back on a few times already. I dont want to turn you away from it because it has an intoxicating sound that I love and I am sure you will too. I just think if its your daily driver and you cart around your wife/kids etc it might be too much. The power gains are SIGNIFICANT with the full system over the catback - as in HUGE difference but it might be best for you to get the catback first. See if someone around you has one and go for a drive in their car maybe. Good luck man! |

Bro the gains and sound are worth it...it is pretty damn loud but sounds so amazing
If you keep the revs steady and not at 2k or 3k it's not all that loud. And to be honest, I LOVE the look of the cans in the back, look beast Not gonna lie...sometimes it's just a bit too loud...and forget about having the windows down in stop and go...that fuel smell gets to you if you keep inhaling it when stopped. But it's a sick system and its just music to my ears Also the car revs up SO much faster know its awesome. Rev matching so quick and getting that loud blip in the exhaust note sounds siiiiick. Definitely makes driving spirited more fun BTW, this car is my daily driver.

thanks for all the detailed feedback guys... I've been on the fence on this for a couple of days but I think I've made up my mind to pass on this (my wife would flip out with the loudness and I have to drop her to work daily) .. I'll continue to save up for an Akra Evo Full System! I had Akra on my ducs so I think I'll match that with the same system for my M3

This issue with the cans being shiny could easily be remedied with a custom matte black powdercoat, similar to the Eisenmann Black series.
And yes, we do offer this service for your convenience |
