P0191 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor
Anyone have any issues with this, searched and nothing came up. Car threw the code, Service Engine Light, Increased Emissions warning with the following conditions: 30mph, 3750rpm, 30% throttle, 60psig fuel rail pressure.
Car idles rougher than normal under startup, cleared code this morning and didn't immediately come back, just keeping an eye on it. Still under warranty but would like to understand what's going on before tossing to the dealer. 4/08 build date with 35k on the clock.

Do you have the part # for that fuel pressure sensor on the M3 E92?

Yeah I know.
Wonder if someone has a DIY of how to change the low fuel pressure sensor on a E9X M3.

I had the same code. Here's the part number, what the sensor looks like, and where it's located in the engine bay. It's a simple DIY, you have to take out the air box for easier access and just unscrew the old sensor and screw in the new one. You also have to delete the code when you're done. Kind of dangerous though because I almost killed myself doing it. When I unscrewed the old one gas sprayed all over my face (wear eye protection) and I was about to light a cigarette until my wife stopped me (yeah, I don't know what I was thinking).

Very informative write-up, Red Baron. Well done. Your experience has convinced me I should have my wife close by when I'm working on my car. |

I am having this issue as well. When I check that part number on getbmwparts.com it does not come up for the M3. I'm I doing something wrong?

I completely forgot I even had this issue or started this thread. Car has been rock solid since, at 65k now.

Has anyone else noticed that the realoem part number for the E9X M3 Sensor for low fuel pressure is:
13537622231 ($120-140) While everyone else has been putting in part number: 13537614317 ($70-90) and seems to be a fit on most BMWs (according to getbmwparts) with Turbochargers. Anyone have any insight, problems? Has 13537614317 been working well for you since replacing? It looks like everyone has been successful, but don't want to have to pay for the same part twice somewhere down the line... |

One user was having a lot of issues getting the part at the dealer. Dealer even looked inside his engine bay and told him the part wasn't there. |

I had this issue. I was getting all kinds of codes over 2-3 months and as many resets: P0091, P0175, P0191, P0192, P2290.
I replaced with the cheaper part number above. Check realoem.com. You'll see that this cheaper part number is listed for all *35 cars, as well bigger-engined 7 series. The more expensive is mostly associated with M cars. However, comparing the parts, they are almost identical. Two weeks layers, and no issues for me. For replacement procedure itself, I put a rag underneath and used a 24mm open-end wrench. As soon as pressure started released, I let it sit and depressurize. When I didn't hear any more, I continued loosening and removing. There was no spraying with this approach--just leaking when depressurizing |
