What will fill the 1M & M3 shoes once they are gone!?!?
Hey Guys,
What do you think BMW will do early next year when the 1M and M3 both are out of production? I think, I know... And it won't be a sports car! X3M anyone??? Btw... IF a X3M doesn't digust you enough - I just saw a German pag with a New Maseratti SUV, based on a Chrysler JEEP of all things. What is this world coming too!!! Dackel |

After opening up my intake manifold and seeing this in my RS 4, no Audi FSI engine anytime soon...
PS: dynoed car pre- and post- clean, recovered a whopping 42awhp (as measure by the wheels, which is 60 crank). I guess the "R" had fallen off and was relegated to driving an S4

There have been rumours brewing, that BMW will either make a Z4M or a X3M. Since the X5M and X6M have been such great sales hits and since rival Audi will have a "hot" version of the Q5... I think it is likely that BMW will build a X3M instead of a small sports car. By this time next year, the 1M will be out of production and M3 production will be ending shortly. The M5 & M6 should be coming out shorly - so... an X3M would add something to the M-lineup. I find it ironic that M// will be making big heavy trucks and sports sedans instead of light nimble sports cars. I guess we will have to wait for the M2 and M3 to fill that void. I wonder which version will debut first? Dackel |

You may not be far wrong. Try swapping the M5 for M3. There are rumours out there that they may run out the E9x model with an E91 M3 and that most of the engineering has already been done.
My guess would also be X3M, however. |

If you think about it, an X3M or X1M make more sense than the X5/6M...

The Xes should have there own sport line. Not M. Say X3S, X5S etc. These vehicles are not in the spirirt of the original intent of M cars. I.e. Road cars with a track or competition focus. The X6M - what the hell is that abomination? It's not really an SUV, it's not really a sedan, it's not really wagon. It's trying to be all of these things and yet is none of them. And then they put an M badge on a souped up version of it. Geez. Sure it goes but so what. That does not make it an M. Please Mr. BMW, you talk about "PURE M" but what is it anymore?
