37F Dashboard Warning
For the past couple of mornings I get a beeping (which always makes me pucker), and a blinking +37F. Is it common for the temp sensors to go bad?
When pulling out of my garage I seem to get an accurate read, and in warmer weather it seems to work fine. So far it's only gone crazy during a chilly morning. I'll get under the car this weekend and double check the connection. I think I remember seeing it under the front right fender, about 2 inches long. Any help? |

I think that is just a cold weather warning beep. Someone on here can give you more specifics about how it works, but it is normal.

Normal, it's just an icy conditions warning. Most likely still cold from the night before and until it adjusts to the new surrounding temp it shows the ice warning.

That's a great question...I'm tired of the winter here in CT, I can't imagine -31...

Heck, I'm tired of the winter here in Texas. I don't even want to think about it being below zero degrees.

If the sensor is not connected or has a bad connection the default reaction/readout is to flash the 37º thing on the dash, so it is entirely possible that the sensor is intermittently faulty, or there's damage on the wires to cause it to short out intermittently.

If it works normally and reads close to what the temp should be once you get moving, then I think you are dealing with some start up pains. It seems to take a min or so for the temp to stabilize in all of my cars, especially if they are in the garage. I would agree that being 10+ off is a fairly large margin, but if it doesn't stay that way I wouldn't worry.

Well, if it keeps on doing it, your temp sensor might be bad. Otherwise, what others have said. There seems to be a slight delay in the temperature reading sometimes.
