Who has the Mark4 Armrest? Good or No?
Who out there currently has the Mark4 Armrest? I am thinking of purchasing but am curious as to what ppl have to say about it. Is it comfortable? Does it get in the way?

It would get in the way for me, I would rarely use something like that, I think for folks that use the door armrest, this "levels" your arms.

i had mine but quickly sold it since it put my arm too high up after switching to the zhp knob. for the stock knob that sits high, this would be fine. only other reason i sold it was i realized i didn't want anything in my car that was attached via 3m double sided tape. i don't even use that on my windshield for my ez pass lol.

Honestly though, it's bad practice to keep your hand on the shifter. Better to keep both hands on the wheel.

This arm rest is for me to rest my elbow on while my hand is on the wheel, as well as an arm rest for my passenger. |

hey look at the roadsters solution armrest. i was looking at this leather z armrest too, and most said it was too high. this one is much shorter, but no storage, but i use the center console for that. i just got one used from a member here.

I have both. Took off the RS too low ,little pading. I like the M4 for the height and the storage . I like the way it looks also. I have an auto trans. so height is not an issue for shifting.

Too little padding huh? Interesting. Is the M4 sturdy? Enough for me to use it as a pivot point getting in and out of the car?

Should be OK as long as you follow the instructions about mounting it. If Temp is too low the tape does not stick as well. I also put a weight on it over night to set it. ( constant pressure)

Love this mod in our car...its high enough to use when needed and has that extra storage. It is concave on underneath side to fit all contours of the console, and mine is well planted in place with tape etc. Now I do not use it as a lever to get out, but it does not shift on me. The other one mention is simply too low for comfort to level out the arms. I also have the autotran and its great. Good luck, but you won't go wrong on it. Just clean the surfaces well, tape down in a warm time, and let cure...no problem.

At first it feels a little bit tight. But after you get used to it, it feels like it should be there in the first place. Nice quality product with an OEM look. Extra storage is great too. |

I bought the arm rest pads but have not installed them yet. They were a discount if you bought the set. Tryed them out for feel. Felt good on the elbow.

Arm pad
I ordered the Roadster Solutions center console armpad but returned it for a refund (very nice guys, btw)
It was too low and not enough padding for me. I am 6'6" tall and needed some leveling out. I also have an automatic so I am not constantly grabbing the shifter. I ordered the LeatherZ center console armrest with the storage space in it. It is perfect for me! PERFECT! I also ordered the arm door pads primarily because they were offered in a package deal and only cost me a few more dollars. They stick and remain stuck down (to my surprise) to the door panel. They are comfortable but I could live without the arm pads. Consider your height and shifting requirements. I would definitely recommend the LeatherZ pads for my 2006 3.0si automatic. |

I actually didn't even know about these LeatherZ products until I met up with a local forum member. At the time my car was completely stock (I had just picked it up from the dealer about a week or two prior). He informed me of the center armrest, at which point I was like, "whaaat? Naww...I don't need something like that "
And then I found a really cheap brand new one off the forums here and decided to try it out, and fell in love with it After finding out they also have a elbow-rest for the door, I kinda want it as well But yeah definitely not at MSRP price |

Isn't that only for people pimping their car or driving auto? I kid, I kid. I have no interest in the arm rest since I've never used the ones I had in my past 3-er's, but, from that 1st pic, it looks like the arm rest would interfere with door for the Z's storage compartment. I'm guessing it might just be the angle of the shot, but maybe someone w/ the arm rest can chime in here.

The armrest would not interfere. On the website they show tons of pics as to how it does not interfere.I thought the same thing though.
I think once it's warm enough I will purchase the armrest and door pads as the package deal. Thanks everyone! |

Sorry, but I had one on my prior Z4 and if you are tall and have your seat settings relatively low, it does interfere with shifting. If you notice, most people that have responded to this chain that do not like it make reference to being tall. Sure, it can be done but your elbow is at an awkward angle to do it. I liked the ability to rest your arm on long trips but around town and most other times, I'm glad I don't have it on the M, especially if you have the ZHP knob.
