Akrapovic Exhaust
I have been looking at changing my standard exhaust with the Akrapovic system.
Is anyone using this on a 2010 M3. Any suggestions would be apreciated as this will be my first mod to my car.

that's probably the most popular exhaust system on the forum, so there are many akra owners of every e9x M3 vintage. do a quick search - tons of info out there. nevertheless, I'll give you my 2 cents from what I understand.
a bit on the expensive side, but the build quality is second to none, the tips look amazing, and it's extremely lightweight. I don't care much for the sound, but most people love it. I don't know of many akra owners who switched to something else - it's generally once you go Ak' there's no going back. big question is do you want to go for the axle back or the full evo system (i.e. axle back + the x-pipe with HFCs which will give you a nice power bump, but you'll need to get a tune to eliminate the CEL). personally, I'd definitely go for the full evo. definitely worth the money. Best mod I have done hands down!
Nice and quiet while just cruising, amazing sound when you get on it. It is basically the best compromise out there where sound, power, lack of drone, build quality and weight savings is concerned. Get it, if you don't mind spending the money you will be completely satisfied. Here is a thread with a great video and review from a guy that has had multiples systems. He finally settled on the Akrapovic Evolution as the best all around choice for him: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=466544 Hope this helps! |

Ive seen one in person and the build quality is amazing! It better be full setup cost over $5,000. However too quiet for my taste. I would go for the EVO version atleast.
With a nice tune+full setup, you can expect very nice gains. |

I definitely settled on the akra gt4 as the Akra Evo was just too quiet for me. Exhaust sounds great, I'm suppose to put a video club up.. But I still havnt =). wait til I get my car out of the stormy days in Texas. Nonetheless, exhaust is second to none in craftsmanship nor quality used. Winwin. Glwpurchase.

The exhaust note and power bump of the Akrapovic is intoxicating.

Most will say without a doubt - yes. Just replied to your other thread.
The biggest power gains will be felt adding the X-Pipe to the Akrapovic slip-on (OEM 400 cell cats are replaced with 100cpsi), making a ~3hp gain turn into a 25hp gain.

Honestly, I only like the sound of my Akrapovic evolution, I don't love it. I gotta say that I liked the tone of my corsa better, it was more harmonic and richer sounding. The Akrapovic sounds a little flat to me.
But, the power of the full evolution system is really awesome and it doesn't sound bad... I'd never get the slip on though. |
