Price of tire and wheel insurance...input needed!!

I'm curious what people paid for their tire and wheel insurance? I'm looking at a 5-year coverage period and can't tell if the quoted price I received is good or not. Input would be welcome!

I think I paid around $699 for the five year. I don't have my car at work today because of the beautiful weather but will check when I get home.

What did they quote you?

I think, 500-700 is reasonable if you're inclined to purchase such insurance. I have been quoted as much as $1,799 at one point

I'm in Georgia and I paid $485.00 for the 5 years. How much did you get quoted on this?

I guess it is a state by state deal. Or maybe each dealership likes to put their own price?

I paid $499 for my policy. The dealership wanted almost $1300 for their policy (Vista BMW). Luckily, I have a friend that did me a huge favor. He sells policies to the dealerships' F & I guys and sold me my policy at his cost. Anyone getting a good 5 year policy under $600-$700 is doing well if you ask me. These wheels and tires aren't cheap!

Paid $1k flat through BMW. All OEM wheels + tires replaced under warranty.

Very worth it considering a wheel alone costs $900 on this car.

Price is negotiable. For my '08 550 it was something like $500 for three years but that was a third-party offering as BMW was not offering their own coverage yet. For my '11 M3 I think I paid right at $1,000 for three years of the BMW plan. Knowing the price of the PS2's, I figured it was worth it, but it's a crap shoot. We saved so much money of my wife's '07 X5 that it paid for my 550 coverage and a significant portion of the M3 coverage. Never used the coverage on my 550 but the wife had a knack for finding nails...

Anyone want to summarize the exclusions and fine print of these plans. Obviously, they do not cover wear which can be quick on this rubber, but how rigid are they? Curb rash?

No curb rash

Bent wheels, etc. are covered and replaced with OEM.

In regards to tire wear, be creative.

I think there are various tire insurance plans that are offered by different dealers. My plan does cover curb rash and winter tires as long as they are within recommended specs. I already had one rear tire replaced which I think would have cost close to $400.

I was quoted $981 for 5-years, no deductible. It's not a BMW warranty, but third-party offered through my BMW dealership. I would think that third-party might be less expensive??

Paid cost--$950 for BMW 5 year plan on my 2011 M3. Coulda got a 3rd party for a hundred or so less, but I'd rather have everything together.

Can it be purchased after you already bought/leased the car?

They told me no

Which makes sense

When the car is at the dealer, they know the tires have no nails

but what if you drive away and get a nail and come back asking for the warranty?
Not fair right?

Yep. However, they can always inspect'em to make sure there's no nails or that the rims aren't bent, and then charge a little more, couldn't they.

I have Multi Shield Gold which covers curb rash, paintless dent removal and windshield repair (not replacement). Think it's about $1500.

I was quoted $1600 for 5 years by the dealer. I cancelled it one day later. It does not cover wheel replacement, so not worth it IMHO.

So should I expect to pay more or less for a warranty that is NOT through BMW? I would think less.
