285/30 18 on Front

I am trying to figure out my sizing for Time attack this year and going to street tires which I think is the way to go this year.I am thinking of running a 285/30 18 AD08'son the front on a 18x10 @25P with a 295/30 18 on the rear on a 10.5 @ 27P.I know that my 275/35 18 NT05's are pretty close on the edge of clearance limit for the rules so will I get away with a slightly lower & wider tire?

What are the specific rules you have to conform to regarding fitment?

I think you should be okay as it's a good deal shorter. The brand of the tires might make the biggest difference.

I've read a few times that AD08s are wider in general. So if that's true you should have a good chance in fitting the 275 NT05s.

The tire cannot protrude more than 13mm past the fender viewed from above and you drop 2 classes if run a street tire rated over 140 over running a R compound tire. You cannot do any inner fender mods for fitment. My NT05's275/35 18's on 18 x 10's @25p were well within the specs to meet the rules. Are the AD08's the hot tire to run for street tire Time attack?

Already running the 275/35 18 NT05's with no rubbing issues at all.I just found out that I am being loaned a 285/30 AD08 on an 18 x 10 @ 25P to try out for fitment.

Please keep us posted as I have the same question. I'll run 285's all around since my car is tuned for a square setup.
These time attack rules suck for me because every other sanctioning body that I run with has me running r comps.
How did you like running on street tires last year? Does it take any fun out of the day because you have to be more mindful of the tires?

So you are running 285's all the way round. What wheels & tire setup?I might be as wide as I can run within our rules as I might already be at the maximum allowed under our rules for protusion which now I will have to check very carefully.
I found that running on the NT05's was not a whole lot different when they were newer than the RA1's and I actually went quicker at Mosport than on the RA1's.Once they got older they needed a lot of heat to work as they were heat cycling out before they wore out.For competion shaving is probaly a very good idea.Overall I would go back with them as a lapping tire but I am not sure as TA tire.

Sorry I was typing hastily on my iPhone. What I meant to say is that I will run 285's up front once you confirm that they fit
I'm running 275 NT01's on 18x9.5" d-force wheels with no issues (and am reluctant to change to street tires).
Keep us posted on your test fitment.

Gearhead why do you think that the nt05's are not the best choice for time attack? I'm not at all versed in this new breed of street tires, but I thought that the nt05's were on par with the star specs and ad08's. Hopefully someone who has used them can chime in here.

So you are going to wait on me

We both might be in luck as my tire guy has his 285/30 18 AD08's mounted up on a 18x10@25P that I can borrow for a test fit and to make sure that it is a legal setup for the class that I intend to run in.I am trying figure out what street tires to use that will be the quickest for 3 fast laps and I have not ruled out the NT05's at this point.I am quite open on what I will run on.
