M3 vs 335i xDrive

Hi there! I've been wanting to ask some people about their opinions. I'm actually getting a new BMW for christmas this year (12/25/2011). I've been deciding, should I get an M3 or a 335i xDrive? Im aware that M3 has poor gas milage. Although I want something that will be a head turner, I want to customize it with magna flow exhaust, as well as minor exterior details. What would be the better buy?

Well if you need AWD then go with the 335, if not go for the M3.

Why would you want an all wheel drive car in Daytona Beach? If it were me, the choice would be a 335i, 335is or the M3... no xdrive if I lived where your signature says you live.

If you get the m3 please don't let it be because it's a head turner. Read up on the forum and come up with a better rationale.

But since you're asking for opinions, m3 all day

I drove 328, 335, 328x several times. Nothing special. Get the M3, that IS special.

+1. If you want a head turner, get some pink convertible or something... Or a Honda civic with FC exhaust.

If you want to buy a M3 because it is a "head turner", please don't! It is childish! And since you are worried about gas milage, definitely get the 335 or another car!

Its your money buy what you want.......not what others tell you to buy. Goto a dealer and figure it out.

Don´t worry, you are ın great hands. There are plenty of people who wıll be more than happy to tell you what you should do around here. You defınıtely came to the rıght place. Make sure you follow theır advıce exactly, or you wıll not be a true enthusıaıst.

However, unless you are takıng a race track to work everyday you mıght not want the M3.

Good luck.

You sir have a 335i-badged "M3". No lie... Take your car back.

Haha no but 19.1 is great -- some guy posted his trip summary awhile back and got like 26mpg over a 300mile trip -- everyone thought he was traveling downhill the whole way LOL.

Since I own both (the 335xi is a sedan though) I can honestly say that the M3 is the ultimate head turner of the two.......during a 1,300 mile road trip with both cars, the 335xi go no looks relative to the M3, whether or not the M3 was in the lead or the "chase" car.

Add an exhaust to the M3, and even more looks come your way.

Is this even a real question? The M3 is a far superior car (and I've owned a 335xi)

Agreed. It's not even close for me. I had a 2008 335xi 6 speed with a tune and intake.

Get an M, if top notch performance is important to you, it is the best BMW has to to offer and the normal 3 series is not close.

The M3 does not impress chicks, but does get other car guys excited.

If you want to attract attention then you are shopping the wrong car.

Gas milage cannot be an issue otherwise get something else. Buy the M for you, not for those around you......Steve
