Limited Availability or No?

I know that we do not have a sure answer on this yet, but i feel like my dealership is being less than truthful to build up hype and demand for the 1 M Coupe. I have a deposit down and was told that I was #1 on the list, but now they are saying that they might not even get 1 and it's already spoken for. They also said there would be only 400 for the US. I thought the only thing limited was the timeframe in which they were made and BMW would build as many as the demand needed.

I get the feeling that they are trying to justify a reason to have a markup. I do want to get it ASAP, but if this become another Z4M, I will feel really stupid for not getting a discount if they do meet the demand and end up collecting dust on the dealer lots. E90 m3 is my second choice and is much easier to get. Are there any Socal dealerships that will guarantee invoice or close to invoice pricing. It's frustrating because I feel like I know more than the Sales people. They also said that ED won't be available?
