Canadian Carwash??

I was pleasantly surprised to see a Flamenco Red Z4 filling up today, as I was stopped at a red light. Temperature is well below zero here in the Toronto area...lots of salt and sand on the roads. I watched the driver come out from paying and make a bee line to the window cleaning squeegie. I thought, "No, don't do it, you don't want all the crap that has collected in that bucket smeared all over your windows and subsequently all over your paint!" The good news is that his glass was spared the indignity.....his passenger door and front fender.........well, that's another story!! Yikes. I was left shaking my head.

IMO if they knew anything about detailing, the car would be under cover

Mine is under cover in my garage till April too, so I initially had to get over the fact that the car was even on the road today.

At the beginning of January I saw an E89 on the 407....must have been a leased vehicle!!!

It really is amazing what cars you see being Winter driven.
I saw a Lotus Exige the other day on the 407

Even if you aren't concerned about the body of the vehicle (among other components), the ground clearance on the Exige and Z4 would be enough to convince you not to drive it in the winter around these parts. I think we have all been stuck at one time or another in a car that was much better suited to winter conditions.

Bah, humbug... I live in the Cleveland area snowbelt (and it was 1 degree F Sunday when I was out with my MCoupe), and I may miss the ability to drive my car maybe 2 days/year.

It gets filthy quickly, but so would a substitute, and the crud comes off with a wash.

Put on the right wheels/tires and enjoy your car.

I'm just shocked that it took over an hour for one of "your type" (winter drivers) to respond!!

Whatever floats yer boat.

As for me though, if I am ever in the market in the future for another Z4 or a Z4M, I will definitley not be buying a winter driven car. Winter road salt simply ages the car at a greatly accelerated pace, and I want none of that.

Ironically, I passed the same E89 today on the 407!

Was this meant to be the "Garage Queens Only" thread?

Roof down on a warm winter day (often with the Chinooks here in Calgary), sun shining, watching in the rear view mirror the snow still on the road being thrown in a plume 10m in the air from the rear tyres = great fun!

Great snow conditions here today, bumper lip pushing snow on the side streets. Had one of the best drives ever on the snow covered access road to Kicking Horse resort before Christmas, lots of drifting fun around the corners.

We have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, but it only gets used for dump runs and parking at the airport, most of the time. Z4MR is my daily driver 365 days of the year. Hopefully I'll wear out the Z4MR as soon as possible by driving it as much as possible

If all we used on the roads was sand, like they do in your part of the Country, I would be driving it on the weekends. Salt makes a short and long term mess out of everything.

What made me cringe was the use of the gas stations squeegee. Once, I thought I would be nice and clean off my wife’s car window with what I thought was clean blue water from the station. I really wanted to get all the bug residue off and I ended up scratching the windshield with the sand left on the sponge part.
