If you're on a toll road. 1 in 3 chance they'll pull you over for it. But normally they'll only add it on to the original violation they got you for (speeding, parking, w/e) along with tint. But newly raised fines may make them for aggressive.

Areas with more military are typically more lenient, because cars come from all over. San Diego is more lenient than parts of LA.

I haven't been pulled over yet. I moved out here a little over a year and a half ago.

In my area, as long as you don't have holes and purposely remove the plate, you're not noticed and local cops don't push the issue, especially on high end cars. They can yank just for the plate now, whereas in the past, it was checked when pulled over for a moving violation or other infraction.

I've gotten three tickets. The third time was the last time since I installed the front plate. It doesn't look too bad. They also cited me for tinted front windows and I just paid the fine since I refuse to remove the film. I'll just drop my windows when approaching a cop.

That's just like NJ, which is why I went with 50%. On a non-black interior, this appears light enough to be OEM while still functioning by blocking out light/UV. But if you're doing tints for the dark look, then yea no real way around that besides making sure you're windows are down when pulled over (and thats assuming you didn't pass by him).

Don't park on city streets at night and stay out of Malibu and Huntington Beach. Here is what I did. I'm able to have or remove the plate as my needs change. Oh, officer, I had just cleaned my car and forgot to put it back on, pull plate from the trunk and two thumb screws and 2 minutes later , done. I am not a fan of the Mini tow hook goes for me, I like centered myself ( If you must have one ). http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...9&l=9476a3a755

I have had one so no issues here. I don't have one now but that's just because the stupid DMV still hasn't sent them (even though I got my car early November!)

being at work 9-5 Mon-Fri takes out a huge chunk out of my daily driving hours. NJ is notorious for cops being d-bags and hasseling people for front lic and tints but since mine only gets driven night time for 8 months out of the year (talk about car barely having a chance getting driven), I have not had a brush with the law yet. Knock on wood!

I've had cars in Santa Barbara area since 1978, none with front plate. Never had a problem. I've had my Z4 about 2 years, got pulled over a couple of weeks ago (Saturday night, 10 pm, busy intersection) for no front plate - no other reason.
$25 fix-it ticket, and now Gominigo bracket in the trunk, just in case.
