I'm "in" Portland (actually just across the river in WA). I relocated here from Indiana ten years ago, and I'm quite happy with the decision.
Here's one of the opening clips from a new comedy series Portlandia on IFC that "celebrates" Portland. It's almost that quirky at times....

Redwood City is close enough to San Fran, depending on what you do for a living, that's a great job market. California weather can't be beat. Housing is expensive, but depending on where you're coming from it isn't bad in Redwood City.
Hope this helps. |

If you want a quick idea of how expensive an area is, you can look up the military BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing).
https://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/site/bahCalc.cfm It's based on average rental costs, etc. |

I would vote for Redwood City, just so you'll be closer by to me and I can get hooked up on the exhaust components that you're bringing to market soon
But do know that California literally rapes you when it comes to emissions. I'm still in the search of a replacement source for smogging. My old sources don't want to do it anymore. They're scared to go to jail, which is totally understandable |

That is where the removable exchangeable cats go in hand tho so you can pass emissions also we are very interested on the ESS direct flash because that may help as well.

Okay. In that case, the decision is made. Redwood City, California it is
Then hook it up with a cat-removal thingy, so I don't hafta search for smog hookup |

Seattle here. Portland is filled with tree huggers and lesbians.... oh shit, so is Seattle.
But honestly Seattle is amazing in the Summer.

I've never been to any of those but I'd say Redwood City of the three since it is close to SF and SF is awesome.
The place you mentioned in FL is kinda in the middle of nowhere and Orlando isn't very exciting. I used to live in South Florida and I wouldn't live anywhere around Orlando because I always figured if you're going to live in FL why would you choose to be over an hour away from the beach??? Portland is intriguing to me. It seems like a really neat place but I haven't been so can't really comment. I'm sure it's cheaper to live than Redwood City, CA but I'm not sure there's a lot going on there.

Obvously you have never been.
Unless you are talking about the lesbian thing then disregard the previous comment. I get alot of wankers from SD that give me shit about how it is sunny all the time....call it a knee jerk reaction.

Well, it rains an average of about 150-160 days a year. If you are outdoorsy or like to ski/snowboard it is plentyful with activity.

I escaped Florida after 9 years. great place to live but the driving is extremely boring. If you are into HPDE or autocrossing then its probably ok. Just remeber there are only two season there (hot & hotter).

I'm kind done with the cold tho, no driving my car for 2 seasons kind kills it for me, and coming from Brasil, dallas and Huntington beach I'm kind lost here near chicago.
the opportunity in florida is either Tavares or Hollywood and in CA the opportunity is OC or Redwood city but I know the cost of living there is really high and I'm kind done with that so they are my second options, In OR I'm afraid will be like IL (Cold) my best place would be Virginia beach or NC but job for my wife there is not available tho what really sucks |

I used to live in Mt Dora (just down the road from Taveras, FL). Very slow pace Southern city. Lots of retirees. Lots of flat straight roads. But NO STATE TAX!
