Z4 wheels - question for the pros

Hi guys

I want to upgrade my 2006 Z4 3.0si to the M-Roadster wheels. They are $ 295 a piece on ebay motors:

but I also found them cheaper at

http://www.originalwheels.com/bmw-wheels/z42006rims.php

and at

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/59610...#ht_3577wt_941

My questions: Does anyone know of quality differences or is this just a better deal, period?

Also can anyone recommend an affordable set of tires that match the wheels? Mine are up. Not sure if I need run-flats. Conventional would probably do?

Thanks and sorry if the question sounds stupid. First time wheel buyer .. :-)

Phil

i wouldn't buy any of them, you see used ones on sale here all the time.

but to answer your question, difference in quality comes down to those individual sellers. if they're new, spare, unused obviously they're all ok. but some shops will recondition wheels, and then it comes down to how bad it was originally damaged (superficial rash/curbage or bends/cracks) and how good of a repair job they did.

if i were you, just look on the classifieds here, plenty of guys always replacing their oem wheels. just be sure they fit. i would think the offset is too aggressive but i've seen threads where others got it to fit. you just might encounter some rubbing on bump... fender rolling could always solve that.

You'll need to figure out what (if any) modifications you need to do to make them fit. Try a search for that.

There's a separate wheel and tire section, so your question would be better asked there.

Browse the for sale/classified section on zpost. You can get a whole set for much cheaper.

People upgrade their rims and sell almost brand new rims all the time. I'd look into those.

The offsets of the M wheels are different from that of the i/si wheels owing to the different suspensions. Not sure what needs to be done to make them fit, if it's reasonably possible at all. You may need to go with an aftermarket wheel depending on what style you want - I think Borbet makes/made a wheel of similar style to the M wheel that reasonably fit the standard Z's.

9" on the rear can work, but you will need 8" for the fronts
