5W/30 BMW Synthetic is what I always used on my non-M but as you see above there are many choices. 6.5 liters (6.9 quarts) for an '07 Z4 3.0si, which includes oil and filter

You'll find oil capacity in the manual. It's amazing what one can find with a google search

google? whats that??
im not very proficient at looking these things up i guess i've been searching for why my engine has starting ticking/possible knocking all day, and i've gathered it could be lifters, or hva elements...also a oil change could solve it. which i was planning to do anyway, so hopefully when i have ramps tomorrow i will find the oil drain plug relatively quickly, and can get a 27mm socket (hopefully thats the right size)...get my mobile1 5w-30 full synthetic, cause i cant seem to find something better than bmw oil. oh and i had also read somewhere that the drain plug needs to be replaced after an oil change but im not too worried about that i dont think its correct but of course its just one more thing to worry about after the horrible (and very expensive) child custody case me and the ex are going through for my son, my son being sick and 3 months old, and right after spending $$ to get all new tires...ah life is great...sry about the rant well not really |

Another option is the Mityvac fluid extractor. Just feed the hose through the dipstick hole and it will suck all the oil out in 15 minutes or so. I used mine for the first time yesterday- great product. When you're done, put the cap on it and take it by Autozone to dump. Easy. |

Use the search! But I like to help newbies: NonMs have hydralic lifters and no dip stick to check oil, or to suck it out (MityVacs are a must have tho). Just change the oil if in doubt. You need a metric set plus a oil filter wrench to change the oil. Any 5w-30 full synth is good, my favorite is Mobil1. 7 quarts is what your 3.0si takes.
